Great hifi and vinyl store; do yourself a favour and check it out!

Wonderful wonderful wonderful. A great range of vinyl and vintage posters. Picked up some amazing jazz and rock albums - a combination of new vinyl and used, but all in great condition. The Blue Mountains is lucky to have this shop/resource. Will be back again soon!

Music tastes are subjective and like many, my tastes are eclectic. I inquired if there was anything by an artist I like. I was met with amusement. I inquired why he was laughing at me and was told that it’s not something that would sell. As a shopper I don’t consider that I need to consider what would be a saleable item when making an inquiry, especially in a shop that has vinyl that covers many genres, including many items I would NEVER purchase. When entering someone’s store one should not feel humiliated by a simple enquiry. The behaviour of the man who runs it is that of a nasty ‘know-it-all who knows nothing of gratitude, humility and appreciation of customers who pay his wage (considering how hard businesses have been hit by COVID-19 shame on him)... nothing he was still amused by my inquiry, I walked out and didn’t reconsider buying Pulse by Pink Floyd on vinyl... I’ll get it online.

Although I have never actually visited the Hat Hill Gallery, I bought a 180g vinyl reissue online from them by Booker T. and The MG's called Soul Dressing"

While this shop has great stock, unfortunately their pricing is now out of control! While I love to support local businesses, I have an issue paying these speculative prices. I am happy to pay a small premium for a local business these prices are through the roof!!! $430 for a Joni Mitchell box set I bought at a retail shop in the city for $160 and can still be bought online for that amount, is just going to chase customers away and I am sorry to say they have lost my business.

Good store, however the pricing is so high on everything. Would love to support this store, but terrible that i can get everything they sell online for a fraction of the price. I don't expect dirt cheap but seeing regular vinyl around $65-70 each on stock standard records. the exact same pressings can be found much cheaper at even chain stores like JB HiFi. The Velvet Fog at Katoomba is much more reasonable on the very same records...

Each time I've visited Hat Hill Records an incredible record I've never heard before has been playing, which I've immediately bought. It's such a pleasure to know that I'll discover something new just by walking into the shop. (And I apologise to the owner for taking his background listening whenever I visit.)The collection is superb, with an wide selection of popular and harder-to-find vinyl. Definitely recommend as a hidden gem in the Mountains.
