Mon Ami
A delightful, intimate bistro with great French food and a warm and welcoming atmosphere. We had duck followed by the cheese. Both excellent but the duck was really outstanding both with the pepper sauce and with pears. Two great options. The wine menu is also very impressive; great choices without breaking the bank. Highly recommend as this is a welcoming restaurant with excellent food/wine without formality.

This restaurant used to be a milk bar back in the day when I lived in the street. Nowadays it's a charming unpretentious little bistro.It also offers Scandinavian style starters which I guess reflects the owners personal history and it all melds together very nicely.Duck is offered 4 ways as a choice and my husband and I had 2 and both were very delicious. Very good choice of wine by the glass and great service. Highly recommend

Really cute little restaurant with beautiful food. The beef tartare and Lyon duck confit were beautiful. Staff fantastic. Brilliant location looking into Carlton Gardens. Will be making it a regular.

My workplace had our Christmas Dinner. As a group of 13, we had Mon Ami to ourselves. Ulla was fantastic to work with planning our dinner. Atmosphere was just perfect, we started with sparkling wine and canapes in the courtyard before moving inside for dinner. The food was sublime, the duck was just perfect.Definitely one to come back for

This is a really sweet intimate restaurant that seats about 15 people with a husband and wife team who were both inviting and friendly. The twice cooked souffle was delicious as was the tartare. The duck leg with cherries was and absolute standout and can not be recommended enough, amazing! Our other main the duck breast however, the fat wasn't rendered which was disappointing. The Brulee was a winner too and the small selection of cheese with the confit grapes fantastic. I love that a restaurant like this still exists. We will be going back.

Unfortunately only 4 stars for this restaurant. The atmosphere is absolutely amazing, small, intimate really got a feeling of being in a France in a small bistro. Really into small detail. They have really good French wine options. And the owner is very nice and friendly. Only let down for me was the food. It was good but something was missing. Definitely lack of seasoning both starter and main. Nice presentation. One detail a French restaurant should have free bread!!! Otherwise it's not a french place... 9 dollars for 6 small slices of bread not right for a french restaurant. You're making enough money with the dishes to offer free bread. But this is a french person talking. I'm sure Australian would not mind. And I would still recommend this place as a great place. Great to bring a date!

Small intimate restaurants that do great food with fantastic service in lovely surroundings are hard to come by in Melbourne these days. But Mon Ami ticks all these boxes. Came for a special occasion and this place was perfect. Thank you. We will be back.

Delicious and delightful — this is the place for a perfectly authentic French experience in the heart of Melbourne. The atmosphere is beyond charming; the food wonderful and delicate. Likely to be the best duck I’ve ever eaten. Yum!
