Emu Creek Retreat
We booked 2 wks in advance and provided all the information about our cars. Apparently the campsite and main facilities (e.g., showers) were only accessible by 4WD but there were no information indicating this in their website at the time of booking. We drove 3+ hours to get there and once we arrived we were told we can’t access the main campground with our cars. We were told they updated their website with this info 2 days ago! We were asked to drive to an unpleasant overcrowded camping area with minimum facilities. The road was very rough causing damage to our AWD subaru. Luckily the other car wasn’t damaged. We had no access to the showers, the view wasn’t impressive and there were no walking tracks or activities to do (except our camp fire). We would have appreciated if they had notified (e.g., via texts message or email) us that our cars are not good enough for this campsite. We could then make an informed decision, plan and enjoy our Easter Holiday somewhere else if we knew this in advance.

We went there and spent 5 nights. Single women in 2 wheel drive vehicles. We felt safe and well looked after. The amenities were fantastic and super clean. Bob and Maree went out of their way to say hello but also made sure we had our space. We had a flat battery at the end and Bob gave us a hand with jumper leads, no hesitation, even though it was pouring rain. We can’t recommend this place enough. Gorgeous surroundings, turtles swimming, and enough room for people from all walks of life. Hard core 4wd tracks for those who like it and peaceful bush for the ones who want to relax.

Heaps of space!! We had about 150 metres of nice grass all to ourselves at The Oaks area. The 4WD tracks were water affected and very challenging but was very fun. Don’t even think about hitting the tracks at the moment if you don’t have a lift kit.

We booked two weeks in advance of our trip and were not notified that you actually need a 4WD for this campsite. At reception wevwere told that we could check the website as there was a notification two days before our trip. Are we expected to check your website every day? Normally, an email or text message is needed, particularly as we have already supplied you with our car information when we booked. We ended up not accessing showers and having lots of trouble with car access and some car damage.

First time visitor in November, back over the wknd (feb 2023). I am a single young lady and camp with my 2 dogs. Can’t beat this place. Absolutely beautiful, so peaceful and so much to offer. Full amenities with running hot water, bbq areas, with 4w4 tracks, clean swimming holes and even cabin hire. We had wild horses visit, as well as massive iguanas. Me and my dogs love this place! The owner Frank is such a lovely man! I had the entire place to myself all wknd and everything was so clean and well maintained. Frank even notified me the day prior to be prepared for extra water along the access roads. Honestly can’t fault this place! Recommend highly!! So much to offer and so beautiful!!

A family of 2 drove 2 cars specifically for camping, no 4wding and was charged $80 a night. No Flexibility shown by Park owners, apart from parking extra car at front gate. Expensive parking.
