Northern Beaches Jiu-Jitsu Academy

I have had my soon to be 5 year old son in the Saturday morning classes for the last month and I am very impressed with the class structure, the things the kids are learning to protect themselves and the teacher Jack Cox who is fantastic at keeping the kids under control and making the class a fun learning experience. I think everyone with young boys and girls should give Jiu-Jitsu a go especially with the amount of bullying there is in schools today. Kids learn to defend themselves and grow confidence through the moves that they learn. You can sign up to try a free class to begin and they even have coffee/tea and couches for the parents to relax and enjoy watching!

Such a great vibe and an awesome group of people. This is definitely not your average BJJ gym.As a beginner I felt super comfortable from Day 1. Jack is a great teacher and very welcoming and all the members are super friendly and always willing to help you improve your technique.

Joining up to any martial art isn’t easy if you know no one there. Joining NBJJA was one of the best decisions I made. You never feel like you need to prove yourself. Everyone is there with the same mindset to just train and have fun while we do it. Can’t go past how good the coach Jack is.

Fresh face and no idea how good Jiu-Jitsu would be for me, I was welcomed with open arms by Jack and the team at Northern Beaches Jiu-Jitsu Academy. Starting something as a novice can be super intimidating but this was not the case with the on boarding process at NBJJA. I was looked after and felt very comfortable learning something from scratch.I would highly recommend Jack and the team at NBJJA if you're looking for a change in direction for your fitness and mental well being.I have learnt so much over my time at the academy and cant thank the NBBJA crew enough for how much its positively impacted my life.J

Very welcoming, very open gym whose students are learning at an incredible pace. Jack is acutely focused on the latest techniques and trends in BJJ and more importantly the best teaching methods. NBJJA is relatively new gym but already has a strong community, and dedicated regular students. Excellent place to send developing tweens and teens as Jack instills discipline in his process and naturally commands respect. Safe for women and mature students as the Pedro Sauer curriculum greatly emphasises technique and timing over strength, athleticism or flexibility. Students are also provided video tutorials to supplement classes. As for cleanliness, Jack was formerly commercial cleaner and you won’t find cleaner mats, bathrooms, and showers anywhere.

Great academy, learnt heaps training with the friendly team up there in September. Jack and Jill are extremely accommodating and generous and made a trip a ball. Highly recommend NBJJA!

I started back in March of 2020 and love every minute of it. The gym has great people and has a real good community, Jack loves Jujitsu and sharing his knowledge, you can see his passion in every class and it makes it hard not to enjoy each class!

NBJJ is an amazing school, with a friendly and great vibe and the head coach Jack is a generous and friendly, chill guy (don’t be fooled by his big scary looking build). I found the people lovely and great to train with. I train out of a Jiu Jitsu school in Sydney but drop by from time to time and it’s awesome vibes each time. As an affiliate of the Pedro Sauer Association the jiu jitsu practiced and studied here is is very technical and nuanced so a great place to learn the art. I also found it to be a very family oriented place and very kid friendly! Highly recommend this Jiu jitsu academy to any level practitioner, including beginners!

Jack offers kids such a fantastic combination of fitness, strength, and technique for the nippers sessions. He knows all the kids names and is a great trainer, with the imaginative challenges and games he offers. My almost 4yr old son loves Jack’s classes and wakes up every day asking if it’s ju Jitsu day. It’s one of the best things to watch as a parent as it is so funny to watch, while also making you proud of your kid for taking on challenges. I highly recommend these classes with Jack if you are wanting to give your kid a great bunch of challenges that ultimately lead to more confidence and better physical abilities.
