Tumbarumba to Rosewood Rail Trail
Fantastic trail, great way to spend the day. Congratulations to all involved in creating this community project for all to use. Rode to Tumbarumba and had a coffee and pie from the bakery then back down to Rosewood and finished at Gone Barney’s for a great milkshake. Passed other cyclists, adults and children, and walkers all enjoying the trail. Will be back.

It’s not very often I give 5 stars in a review but I felt it justified in this case. What a wonderful piece of infrastructure this rail trail is, 21km of cycling through the countryside arriving in Rosewood in time for a lovely lunch at GoneBarney Cafe before cycling back to Tumbarumba.

Tumbarumba to Rosewood Rail Trail
This is a fantastic rail trail both to ride and to experience as it’s set in the magnificent rural areas of Tumbarumba and Rosewood with views across to the Snowy Mountains. There’s lots to see as you ride; amazing trees, vineyards, a blueberry farm, lovely little creeks and bridges plus more. The sealed surface makes it a great ride for everyone and there’s lots of historical information about the old railway line along the way. There’s a nice little cafe on the edge of Rosewood with fantastic milkshakes and plenty of places to eat in Tumbarumba as well as picnic areas along the trail on old railway stations.

Tumbarumba to Rosewood Rail Trail
Our young family (kids ages 5, 3 and 1) drove down from Sydney with our brother and sister in law and their baby boy to ride the trail in early July. It was pretty cold but beautiful and very picturesque countryside. The trail itself was in great condition and easy to ride with kids in bike seats / towing a trailer. Our five year old was able to ride about halfway on her own before her little legs tired out and we towed her the rest of the way to Rosewood. We made it to Gone Barny cafe in Rosewood for lunch (amazing burgers and milkshakes and a lovely gift shop too). There were lovely spots to stop along the trail to enjoy a picnic and cuppa (definitely worth bringing a thermos if you need a coffee/tea hit along the way as there are no options until you reach Rosewood or back to Tumbarumba). All in all a very pleasant day out with the family! We will be back!

We had a fab cycling ride to Rosewood and back, once we located the start. Helpful residents directed us onto the ride. Beautiful scenery and lovely coffee at the cafe at Rosewood.

This is a fantastic start and the potential to expand should be put in place immediately. Just look at the impact The Otago Rail Trail has had on towns, cafes, accommodation and tourism in general. There are some improvements on this ride - water stops, shade and some additional signage is an easy start. I’d recommend early morning or mid to late afternoon is best, although in cooler months it won’t matter. The towns either end have to get on board and lift their service offer and this is a winner. Beautiful countryside.

We loved it! So glad to have a rail trail in NSW! The surface was good, it was well maintained, there were clean toilets along the way, there were maintenance stations, the country side was so beautiful, it was quiet & peaceful. The people on the track were friendly & everyone was kind when we had a flat. Lovely reason to visit this part of the state & we’ve enjoyed exploring some of the towns nearby like Khancoban & Jingellic (great cafes & bushwalks). Highly recommend!

Tumbarumba to Rosewood Rail Trail
Easy, gentle elevation, lovely scenery. We did the full 42km return trip, with a stop for late lunch and coffee at Rosewood. On the return from Rosewood, we could see glimpses of the snow capped mountains in the distance (late July ride), on perfect winter's day. I can imagine it could get more challenging on a windy day.Well worth the ride.

We just had a delightful day on this rail trail. The infrastructure is really terrific - congrats to those responsible. Countryside was looking wonderful after all the rain. The revamped Rail Trail Cafe at Woodside was a good spot for a coffee & a snack.Highly recommended. Suggest an early start to finish before it gets too hot.
