Awesome place where old sand stone walls meet a ship being revitalised with an old timber wharf

Wonderful public space. Dripping with history of a bygone era in Sydney. Very worthwhile visiting. Great vision from North Sydney Council in bringing this to fruition. The sustainability displays of vegetables and flowers was an inspiration.Hope there are a lot of school visits to view these displays, that may fire up a young mind to expand humanities use of these types of projects.

Lovely open air area, nice for coffee break and walking around to see some garden beds, explore the tunnel and learn a bit of history

Things to do on this site include:-Walk along platform with a view out to Cockatoo Island. Has displays about the history of the site.-2alk through coal loader tunnel, housing old equipment-Visit MV Cape Don, a 1960s historic lighthouse tender museum ship being restored by volunteers (full tours on Sundays and by appointment)-Short Bush walk to Balls Head-Visit the Coal loader sustainability centre, open mon-fri with community garden, chicken coop and small garden plots on the platform.Unfortunately the wooden wharf in the photos is not accessible at the present time.

Former wharf used by colliers bringing coal from the north and south coast to this storage site on Sydney Harbour. Made of wood, it is seemingly being left to decay and is a bit of an eyesore despite having substantial historical interest. Located immediately adjacent to the Coal Loader site that features walks and a cafe.
