Practice manager (Jennifer) and reception at this clinic are completely incompetent. I waited 3 months to be given the correct script. I was told they would call me back and they would never call me. After a week or 2 passed and I hadn’t received a call I would ring them and they would have no idea what’s going on and you have to start again. This went on for 3 months. Because of them I was almost started on a medication that would have resulted in serious complications because they can’t pass on a simple message to the doctor. The practice manager Jennifer was completely useless as were the reception staff. They finally passed me onto my doctor who also had no idea this had been happening with one of her patients. She had no idea I hadn’t received or started any medication for 3 months after my initial appointment. (reception was very much aware of this issue) Avoid this place at all costs. Complete waste of your time and your money.

This was the first time I’d seen a dermatologist. I was referred by my GP to see Prof Rodney Sinclair. I have been dealing with sudden intense hair loss for a year and finally built up the courage and funds to get some help. I thought by seeing Prof Sinclair that I would be getting the absolute best, personalised support for my hair loss. I walked in excited and hopeful, and walked out crying and confused. My scalp was examined for quite literally 10 seconds and told immediately that I have female pattern hair loss. Despite mentioning I had just had a baby, I have low iron and vitamin D, an over active thyroid and had lost 28kg intentionally.I was given a pre made booklet with 3 pamphlets. Information on My “diagnosis”, Minoxidil and Bicalutamide. Scripts were written up without explaining to me what either were or what they will do or any side affects they may have. I later googled them and found out that you can’t even take them while pregnant, which he did not mention. My appointment cost $440 and lasted for about 10 minutes. I paid extra to see Prof Sinclair as well. Majority of the appointment was spent showing me a YouTube video on how to use their $160 per month kerastase oil and how much it would help my eyelashes grow, as well as putting hair fibres in my hair to conceal my balding areas.I feel as though I walked out traumatised by my new “diagnosis” and that I was destined to go bald at 28. He didn’t seem empathetic at all while telling me I had a condition that would be lifelong. I paid $440 for an appointment to see the “best” dermatologist for hair in Melbourne and felt as though my life changing diagnosis was just another boring repetitive diagnosis he had to deal with. I found more detailed information on google and Facebook support groups. I lost $440 that I have spent months saving that could have been better utilised elsewhere.UPDATE 03/04/2023Prof Sinclair has phoned me regarding my recent unhappy google review. Although I still don’t feel confident in his diagnosis, he did proceed to explain some of what should have been discussed in my appointment, over the phone. He offered to have me back for a complimentary appointment to which I declined and he then offered to recommend another dermatologist. I did ask to have a biopsy to solidify my diagnosis, in which he declined to do. A biopsy would have made me feel more comfortable and accepting of my supposed diagnosis. I told Sinclair that he should take more care and consideration when prescribing medication to women who could potentially be pregnant or trying to conceive and that medications should be explained by him and not a pamphlet. Especially their potential side affects, lifelong use and when you cannot use the medication ie pregnancy/trying to conceive.I will keep my rating the same, although I commend Prof Sinclair for following up and offering me a complimentary appointment and a reference to another dermatologist.

I had an appointment with Adam Daunton, he was very patient and listened attentively to my concerns and did not rush the consultation. He showed great care in seeking possible medications to assist my needs and printed out materials for me to read. I highly recommend Adam and thank him for a positive experience. Also reception was communicative and prompted.

Cons: The appointments are always late (fastest was 30 mins late) and they really gouge you on the compounding pharmacy prices and upselling (the gaudy amount of artworks on display shows the recession hasn't hit profit margins).Pros: most of the doctors are professional and engaging enough. I was going to start going elsewhere but I started seeing the one from New York and he's actually great. Also as a funny sidenote - is Dr Sinclair a narcissist? He puts his name and photo on everything (even the prescriptions) and he even pauses when he name drops/references things he's done (so you can be suitably impressed). Just some food for thought.

Just spent $360 (with a $39 Medicare rebate) for a hair 'and' skin appointment that lasted only 15 minutes with the Dr.No compensation was offered despite it lasting the duration of ONE appointment and not TWO. I was told it's a full fee because it was hair 'and' skin, and the duration of the appointment doesn't matter. The receptionist was rude and made me feel embarrassed even questioning their absurd prices. However, the single hair or skin appointments in the past have always been rushed and inadequate in answering all questions and putting the mind at ease.In order to become eligible for the biologics, I had to do 2 treatments to show its inefficiency. But guess what...? Because of their fault in tracking my first mediciation and treatment as a part of the Medicare application- I had to do a 3rd treatment for 6 weeks, and that was extremely painful with my severe symptoms. This ended up delaying me 3+ months to get on the biologics!2 stars because I was at least introduced to and referred for the biologics- which have worked miraculously and brought back my confidence.Hair salon: Great service, friendly and good recommendations. *Was* economical as I paid $260 for a colour, cut and blow dry in March 2023... until they charged me $400 for a Keratin exactly 3 months later

After experiencing mechanical damages to my scalp (and natural hair) from a negligible hair salon, I visited Sinclair Dermatology (East Melbourne) for treatment. The reception staff and assistant were very friendly, polite and made me feel comfortable at my first appointment. My specialist has been very kind and I have felt supported during my treatment.I would highly recommend this clinic if you are/have experienced hair loss (by any means) and require some help.

Had appointment with Dr sharma, wasting my money for nothing I had hair loss problems which lost heaps of hair she didn’t find the reason by saying 80% we don’t know the reason if you don’t know what’s the reason it’s better to close your clinic and not see any customers, she gave me minoxidil strighy away, just marketing their business that’s all. I don’t recommend anyone to see this doctors you can go and get a the minoxidil from your family doctor better than wasting 400$

After suffering stubborn adult acne for almost 2 years and subsequently feeling depressed as a result, I decided to put my trust in this clinic. Unfortunately I left feeling disappointed and defeated. The appointment was extremely rushed and lasted only 15 minutes (and only due to the fact that I had a lot of questions to ask, otherwise it would have been a 5-10 minute appointment max). The dermatologist was also clearly trying to rush through the questions I was asking. This is a complete joke for a $330 appointment. There was no attempt to get to the root cause of my adult acne (which is not normal for someone to be experiencing), despite me stating multiple times that I thought it was linked to my gut issues. Rather the dermatologist just wanted to get me out with a script as quickly as possible. There was no attempt to uncover why my acne has returned worse than ever.I understand specialists are busy, however the priority should be the patients and they should not be overbooking if they cannot give the appropriate time and attention to their patients. I too am a healthcare worker so I understand the pressure however some empathy and compassion would go a long way. Patients are already vulnerable and have decided to put their trust and faith in the doctor, and for this to then be deflated is extremely disheartening for the patient. Please do better.

My review is regarding the hair salon attached to Sinclair Dermatology. I have received consistently high quality service, cuts and advice from their chief hair stylist Esther. She is what makes the salon so good. Salon uses Kerastase products which are decent and worth the money.

I am a patient of Dr. Sinclair Dermatology for over a year. A couple of months ago, they increased the consultation prices without a notice. The treatment was completely unsuccessful. This place is nothing but a waste of time and money.
