We had a very bad experience with this builder.He under quoted and over charged. We are going through Fair Trading to try and get our $8K deposit back which he refused to return. Due to huge cost blow outs we had to make the difficult decision to remove him and his team from our site .We have to live with a complete wall in the wrong place according to the plans.We were promised weekly progress reports and photos as we were in Sydney when the works were carried out. This was not supplied and we have reason to believe he charged for builders hours not worked on site.Very bad experience. A huge disappointment and we do not recommend him to any prospective clients.

Coming from a working background focussed on sustainable it was inspiring to work with someone like Matt and 'Mooney Constructions'. Their off-grid cabin has evolved from recycled materials, built with self insulating products, they have their own water and now they have their own off the grid power. Keep up the good work mate!

Matt quoted and delivered on getting some air flow into our shipping containers. 5 containers now feeling in much better condition. Floor venting with a whirlybird. A couple hundred plus bucks a container well spent.

We engaged Mooney Constructions on trust with a verbal contract because the job was small. The contract was for hourly rates plus 12% builders premium on materials purchased. We were then charged the 12% premium across all costs including hourly labour of three Mooney Construction workers, as well as sub-contractors, ie everything. The costs blew out and are over ten times the estimate. We agreed to plumbing and electrical sub-contractors but only found out about the employment of other expensive sub-contractors not approved by us, when we were billed some weeks later. We had to terminate his engagement and use someone else to finish the job. We would not use Mooney Constructions ever again.

Mooney constructions has conducted business professionally in the Northern Rivers and have helped many locals who have been flood and disaster affected. They are professional and go beyond where they can. They are compassionate and do their best to get tenants back in their homes as quickly as possible. My experience has always been positive and I would recommend using these local guys in projects big and small.
