Big Hill Cutting

Nice little walk along the old railway track to look up at the bridge from the bottom.

Nice. Creepily quiet though :)

If you are passing by I think it is worth stopping to see. There is a small dirt track on either side of the bridge to get down to the bottom. The north side path is easier to follow and less overgrown however the view is much better from the otherside of where you end up, so make sure you walk under the bridge to get the better view!

Big Hill Cutting.A very deep train Cutting near Balmoral NSW. It used to be the deepest in NSW.It is quite a feat of engineering in the late 1800's or early 1900's. Amazing what was done without heavy machinery. .

This cutting is big. Like really big. Like think about the biggest thing you can possibly imagine and it won't be that big. It is still pretty big.This one time years ago I decided to join two bikes together and stick them on the railway track. and ride down from Colo Vale.... quite the adventure and probably not recommended anymore because they use the line now.... and meeting a train coming towards you would be bad. Like imagine the worst thing..... yeah you get the idea. Anyhow the cutting is cool, because it is big and it is sad because some cockwombles throw rubbish down. What else to say? Hopefully I will get to take a train through it one day.

Stunning. Park either side of the bridge and make your way down the path. There are lots of loose rocks so be careful

A very short Bridge crosses over the big hill cutting as you speed along Wilson Drive. I recommend pullingover on the side of the road as you go over the bridge so that you could run back and have a look at the view although be careful because it is rather narrow and trucks in traffic will come through here rather quickly
