The Dogotel & Purrrfect Cattery

Have been bringing my two greyhounds to Dogotel for about 5 years. Kel and Fran are always welcoming, take great care of our dogs and really get to know them. We feel very comfortable leaving them here. We have used both the kennels and the 'Hounds Hilton' apartments which they absolutely love. Highly recommended, would not go elsewhere.

I had a truly awful experience here.My partner and I recently posted to Canberra with the military from my home town. He has now deployed, so I am here without a support network. I was on my way to pick up my pets within the kennel's business hours when someone ran into my car, causing a serious accident.Having left the police station following the accident, I called the kennel and the guy who manages the place was really unsympathetic to my situation. I asked to come and pick up my pets a little over an hour after their closing time. He said he was out. I said I would be happy to pick up my pets whenever he got home - it didn't matter what time or how late. He got very angry and raised his voice to me.I explained that I was living in Canberra without a support network and that due to work I wouldn't be able to come back during visiting hours for the next four days. I was crying heavily at this point - not great for communication, but I was experiencing some pretty hard circumstances. An extra stay of four days would cost me a lot of money; I was happy to attend the kennel that evening, as late as it took, so that he could still keep his commitments and I could have my pets back as soon as possible. Instead he became aggressive and rude. When he eventually agreed to a later pick up time, I felt unsafe being alone with him and had to ask a neighbour to come with me for the pick up.Needless to say, I have cancelled all our future bookings for the rest of the year and wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy.

Rude and Unprofessional…Today i went to pick my cat up at 4:30 pm which is within their pick up time slot. When i got there there was no one responded to my calls and i made my way in to where my cat was as i could see him. At that point the carer and her son roared out of no where accusing me of being late to pick my cat stating it was after 5 pm. I tried several times showing my watch that it was 4:30 however the woman said that i was lying and her son was swearing saying he is sick of this as people always try to make excuses coming after pick up times. She said i was not allowed to pick up my cat and had to come the next day with in the pick up time. After I repeated my self that it was 4:30 pm i think the son has realised that i was right and he misread his clock. The mother comes out saying oh my son admitted his mistake and you can pick up your cat. Short story is i am utterly disappointed and annoyed and confronted with a situation that was fabricated. My cat seems ok but letting people know who are thinking of using this pet hotel that this can happen to you so watch out. They are rude and unprofessional. I think they forget that they are running a business and this is no way to treat customers. I will never ever use their hotel again.

Our two rescue German Shepherds adore Kel and have stayed several times, including 3 short stays so far this year and a long 3 month stay a couple of years ago. The kennels are clean and spacious with a grassed exercise area. Both dogs go in happy and come out happy. I have recommended these kennels to several people who also now use them.

We had been regularly using Dogotel to look after our terrier cross during our travel periods over the last 5 years. The team seem to have a genuine appreciation for animals and we have always been happy with the service and quality of care. I also note that our dog was always happy to be checked in. I can certainly recommend the Dogotel to anyone looking for a boarding kennel that cares about your pet. Unfortunately our dog has recently passed on however when we are ready to get another dog, we will be more than happy to use Dogotel again.

We've been taking our hounds for holidays at the Dogotel for over a decade now. They love it there thanks to the personal and professional care Kel gives them. They are always in the same fit, healthy and happy condition when we pick them up, whether the stay has been 3 days or 3 weeks. That is a sure sign that they have been treated extremely well. Not only are they not distressed when we drop them off, they seem genuinely happy to be back. Thanks Kel - you are a champion!

I had my pup booked to stay over the October long weekend. We don't normally use this kennel but our usual was booked so I had to find an alternative.I arrived at 11am for drop off on Friday - the sign at the entrance of the driveway and on the building says on weekdays the kennel is open all day. On weekends they close at 12-noon and re-open later in the day.I couldn't find anyone around to check my puppy in. I called the mobile number on google and there was no answer. After walking laps of the place I noticed an old car with a landline number on it, so I called that. The person who answered said he doesn't work there anymore, but they're closed. He was very rude, and when I asked how I can talk to someone who actually does work there he just kept telling me to leave.I called the mobile number again and the same rude person answered. He told me to go away or he was calling the police - mind you I still haven't spoken to someone who works there and I've already paid the full fee. I told him I've called the number from Google and want to speak to someone who works there and he berated me for using Google when they don't pay for google advertising. He told me to check the website... I hung up and checked the website - it's the same phone number. So whatever I did I was going to end up on the phone with this person who apparently doesn't work there anymore and is threatening to call the police.Needless to say, I left convinced I'd have to cancel my trip. I was lucky enough to find someone to help with looking after our puppy so my son and I could still have our little getaway with a late set-off. I won't ever be using this service, and I'm sure I won't get my money back. If it were possible to give zero stars, that's what they would get.

We boarded our dog here over Christmas as our normal kennel was booked out. After picking him up and bringing him home, our dog was acting completely different.Normally, being in a kennel doesn't phase him, and he is a very resilient dog. He's flown all over the country with no issues and normally adapts to new environments very quickly. But after staying here, he was completely miserable and seemed in pain.We had to take him to the vet within days of bringing him home, who diagnosed him with limp tail and is currently on pain medication for suspected nerve damage to his tail. The vet also told us that he was the 3rd dog to come her from this particular kennel.We will not be bringing him back here.
