Do not make the mistake of trusting your loved one to this disgusting place. My mother, Maria Vasilakis, died due to their gross negligence when Covid-19 spread through this place like wildfire. 45 residents died as a result of their negligence. St.Basil's Homes for the Aged in Victoria is owned by the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese who only care about the $2 Million they collect in rent. Both the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese and the management of St.Basil's have shown just how incompetent and uncaring they are.

Our family has had past experience over the last 3 years with St Basils Aged Care Facility & I don’t have much to say apart from the fact that I’m still speechless after the way management treated our loved one’s. On the final days we were expecting a family member to pass however till this day I cannot understand why would a staff member at St Basil’s would leave a message on our phone to say we’ve lost our loved one?????!!!!! Have the decency to speak to us or let us know we’re losing our loved one so that we can be by their side. We still feel that the overall health of the family members at St Basils could’ve been treated better & with human decency.

My father Evangelos spent his last few years at St Basil's. He was well looked after by compassionate, skilled and friendly staff. He enjoyed the Greek cuisine cooked on the premises and as I enjoyed a few meals there myself I could honestly say it was delicious. Dad could speak and read English but was comforted by staff there that spoke Greek and understood his native culture. His room and surroundings were fastidiously clean at all times. When our 90 year old Dad was dying the staff were comforting, prepared meals for us for a few weeks and there was a staff member at his funeral. This COVID debacle at St Basil's is surprising to our family and so out of character to what we remember of Dad's stay there only a few years ago.

Really nice spiritual environment for Greek, Italian and other backgrounds olderlies. Plenty of nice care staff speaks Greek and attempts to speak other languages. The Home provides nice Greek, Italian and international cusine. There is always plenty of food for residents at any time. There is a lovely home atmosphire with lots of activities going on during the day. Director of nursing is warm, happy and very approachable lady. I advise this place with a high confidence that you and your family will enjoy being there.

A big thank you to the staff at this nursing home. The majority of the staff went above and beyond their requirements to care for the residents. Both mum and dad were there. The cleanliness of the place was amazing for such a large place. The food was appetising and plentiful. It was cooked on the premises which is a rarity. It is a shame DHHS and the media chose to stage and portray such lies. The staff did an amazing job. They worked so hard to keep it under control .Instead, the replacement staff that arrived ( Thursday 23/08) had informed my friend that her father had passed away with no compassion at all but an accusing tone in her voice. My friend had no correspondence from them, they weren't answering the calls so she had no updates whatsoever. The only call made was he has passed and with her shock, the worker had asked her which funeral service to use and when she didn't have an answer , the reply she got was what do you mean why arent you prepared. Where is the Compassion???? We are talking about real people

It genuinely is up there with the worst aged care facilities in Melbourne. Very unfortunate for the residents.

BEWARE this nursing home is the worst I have ever seen or had to deal with. My mother in law wanted to go here because it was run by the Greek Archdiocese. Well after the covid-19 hit this nursing home it went through the whole facility in days and they did nothing to protect the residents. The management did not even reply to any emails or 1000 phone calls for info over the crises with our mum inside the home. The GREEK ARCHDIOCESE or any Priest has never phone the families to show concern and sympathy to the families of the residents. What a joke and a disgrace to the GREEK Community, this Archdiocese is.If your thinking of taking your family member to St Basil’s Fawkner nursing home think again. St Basil’s Fawkner have had over 32+ Deaths to date which could of been prevented by management.
