I had an exciting studio experience, Julie was very generous with her time and explanations of her work and processes.Her work covers an amazing breath of subject matter all linked by process and style and her handbags are beautiful, original little functional pieces of art. Julie constructs the bags from off cuts of her paintings making authentic, sensational collections of wearable artI would highly recommend a visit to Julie’s studio she is a truly accomplished artist.

I'm lucky enough to have Julie Poulsen's artwork on my walls. Her art work reflects and responds to life in far north Queensland in all its complexity and diversity. I love how Julie is ever alert to the quirky, the playful, and the subtle colours and forms of these environs.And now we can carry her artwork around with us. Julie creates beautiful bags from canvases she has accumulated over the years. No two bags are alike so each is truly an original unique Julie Poulsen work. I have long admired Julie Poulsens work especially her paintings. Her use of colour, textures and the playfulness in many of her works. This has also spilled over into a range of handbags. I have only seen a couple which were beautiful and am hoping to see more.

I've enjoyed collecting far north Queensland art over the years for the incredible variety and depth of practice the region represents. Julie Poulsen makes a significant contribution to this wealth of FNQ creativity. Her large scale paintings are thoughtful, subtle and responsive to her surroundings. She reveals the hidden, less obvious aspects of the north, exploring the textures, sights and sounds often overlooked. Very special to have one of her works gracing my walls.And wonderful to discover her new range of bags: recycling and re-working unique canvases from her past paintings. Amazing one-of-a-kind pieces!
