Great food and a good beer in a relaxed atmosphere. We came on a sunny weekend afternoon and loved it! In the middle between a Ramen and a Sushi place, and next to a Japanese supermarket. All you need to experience Japan in Sydney. There are many Japanese places in town, but few are as humble and relaxing as this one. We will be back often for sure.

Great value Japanese izakaya with a large variety of things on the menu. Grilled fish are tender, love the gobo chips, mentaiko yakitori, ox tongue and the sweet potato dessert.

Reasonable price for high quality bento. It tasted delicious even though I ordered take away and eat it half an hour later. The packaging was beautiful and I love how they place all the food in the take away box.The salted ox tongue was seasoned perfectly !! And there were a few sides dishes which surprised me because I didn’t expect that would come along with takeaway. I also like the misos soup because they put cabbage in which is quite uncommon to see but still tasted good. I was feeling so satisfied with this bento after a long working day!! Will definitely come back for dine in next time ☺️

A family favourite! A cosy little place with a very authentic atmosphere situated in the otherwise sleepy Artarmon. There are many items to select and some were better than others. We found the clams a bit too salty and the crab to be a bit less than fresh. However we love every other dish here. The miso beef tongue, the chicken skin skewers in sauce, octopus and the tuna tataki is a must try! The place has indoor seating but we were able to bring our dachshund as they had plenty of outdoor space. Keen to try the other establishments next door too (I think its the same owner ).Dog friendly and family or date night friendly !

Love all yakitori choices they have. We love tooth fish neck and ox tongue the most. Found out they also have cold eggplants and melt beer. Wow surprisingly good. Beef Don was a bit tough, to me beef was a let down but everything else we love it. Will be back.

Awesome authentic Japanese izakaya restaurant. The food was very tasty and yummy. The salmon sashimi is super fresh. Would recommend trying the plum wine. The staff are very friendly as well. Can get very busy so would recommend a booking beforehand. Overall would definitely recommend eating here!

Robata Jones has become our work from home canteen, since my husband and I order from them for lunch or dinner 5-6 times a week on average since the latest lockdown. We highly recommend it to our friends and everyone else. They offer authentic Japanese bentos with fresh ingredients in generous portions. Prices are very reasonable for the high quality and big portion you get. We particularly enjoy the tooth fish neck bento and the mixed sashimi kaisendon. All bentos come with rice and tasty miso soup (with cabbage etc). We are yet to explore everything on the menu but so far we enjoyed everything we tried! I would also recommend salmon belly, all the grilled fish and the range of skewer dishes. Last but not least the staff are absolutely lovely - very friendly, attentive and offer great services. We are two very happy customers who are telling everyone about Robata Jones. All the best to the team 頑張って! We love RJ!

Small izakaya in the centre of Artarmon's Japanese street. Quite authentic with good vibes and great food. Definitely not great value for money but there are certainly much worse places.The skewers here are the most attractive part for me though they are $4.5 each on average which is quite painful.The unagi was surprisingly good with a decently generous portion for ~$20. The kaisen chirashi don was not bad as well though would have liked more fish but can't complain too much as it was $19.

Ordered the bento boxes, had the tooth fish and unagi, can’t go wrong with either, very delicious.Visited another time and ordered the ox tongue bento and Yakitori chicken bento. Ox tongue was amazing! Chicken was very good too. Always enjoy the bentos from here.
