Loftus railway station is located on the Illawarra line, serving the Sydney suburb of Loftus. It is served by Sydney Trains T4 line services. it is an important access point to the Sydney tram museum and the adjoining national park. Compact and clean station with 2 platforms.

Rarely is Loftus manned anymore, ticket machines don’t accept cash or small amounts which is important for pensioners. Trains are infrequent and there is zero coordination with buses. The only improvement has been that services are faster to the City as many stations are no longer serviced by trains coming from Waterfall.

Lovely, almost coastal rural feel to locality. Fascinating tram museum next door. Twenty minute peak hour services to City, and thirty minute off peak with 45 to 50 minute travel time and train goes through to Bondi Junction. If walking into the national park, best to head further south to Otford Station which is 20mins from coastline, or go to Cronulla for ferry to Bundeena. Station staffed 6-2pm, weekdays, 8-4pm weekends.
