Conservation Council ACT Region

The Conservation Council too often represents the personal views of its office-bearers, rather than the collective views of its members. The office-bearers have a longstanding practice of unconstitutionally rushing their agendas through board meetings, without allowing ordinary board members enough time to properly consider the issues or to consult with member organisations. They hide the evidence of their constitution breaches by refusing to allow Council members to read board agendas or minutes. They allow only presidents or chairs of member organisations to request to attend board meetings. They require those requests to specify issues to be discussed, and to be made at least two weeks before meetings. They reserve the right to refuse those requests.
