The local Jetts gym boasts a convenient location, friendly staff, and a decent range of equipment, despite its compact size. However, I noticed that the squat racks drift forward, pressing against the mirrors, which seems unsafe. Additionally, the vending machine works intermittently, causing some inconvenience. As someone with Misophonia, I had never faced any issues at this gym until today. On this particular occasion, a personal trainer was speaking extremely loudly, making it difficult for me to concentrate. Despite wearing headphones to block out any triggering sounds, I could still hear him clearly, even when I moved to the opposite side of the gym. I had to stop my workout when he started shouting encouragement at his client during their final reps. For context, the gym's typical noise level consists of weights clanking and people talking, but this was so loud that I could hear his yelling even over heavy metal music on my headset. This experience completely ruined my visit. As someone who has been a member of another gym in town and served in the army for four years, I have been to numerous gyms, yet I have never experienced anything quite like this before.Interestingly, even when working out right next to the trainer's client, I couldn't hear him talking, emphasizing just how excessively loud the personal trainer was. While it may seem trivial and a certain level of discomfort is expected in a gym setting, this incident went beyond my personal definition of acceptable behavior within a gym environment. In my opinion, this behavior goes against proper gym etiquette, which involves respecting everyone's personal space and maintaining a comfortable atmosphere for all gym-goers.
