Italian diner with a bistro pub vibe, situated away from the hustle and bustle of Lygon street. The pasta was decent and better than the pizza. We find the dough for the pizza is too tough to our liking. It felt like a very dense focaccia, so if you're into that then this is your place. Deep fried mozzarella is this beautiful gooey bite of bliss.Food - 6Service - 8Vibe - 9Price - $$$

With a group of 10, had the set menu for lunch on a Saturday. Plenty of great quality, delicious food. Excellent service and we were made to feel comfortable and not rushed so we could enjoy the afternoon. Also welcome the two toddlers in our group and made sure they were catered for.10/10

excellent service -5 stars for attentive friendly and considerate service. the pasta dishes were perfectly al dente, balanced and well seasoned. the appetisers as well- although for the price the cauliflower dish could have been a more generous. More vegetarian or pescatarian options on the menu would be welcome. The tiramisu was a stand out! it has a little surprise twist in it (hint if you’re allergic to certain nuts it’s not for you)! there is also outdoor seating so good for a sunny afternoon with mans’ best friend (ie pet friendly)- if you don’t mind not being undercover. Pricing is typical post covid pricing. (caters for gluten intolerant people.)

ABSOLUTE Love the toasted pasta! Companelle is definitely a winner in my books. Great place for a quick and casual meal. Drinks are good too. I had tiramisu cocktail which is has won 3rd place in cocktails competition.

Couldn’t ask for any more, except for a menu that is not placed on the table in the form of a QR code. What on earth?! The one thing that justified that was the wine list, which I could see might change regularly. The food menu is not huge though.The focaccia, was the best focaccia I’ve eaten at a restaurant and I would actually describe what was served as focaccia. The other two entrees were wonderfully presented, were easy to share, and were flavour packed. For the texture throughout and the volume, the brocsteady square pizza was very well done. The freshness to the toppings also complimented the style very well in my opinion. The highlight was the red vodka sauce on the Antony. The most flavourful pizza sauce I’ve had?… maybe. The base is obviously aesthetically pleasing with the leopard spots but it was to the dry side and didn’t have a whole lot of flavour. Pretty good pizza, great toppings and a lovely space. But a nice restaurant with a QR code…

Came here after a really disappointing dinner elsewhere.Second time visiting Capitano and glad to see not much has changed. Ordered the vodka pasta and grandma pizza, some drinks and the foccacia. The vodka pasta tasted great (although thought the flavour could have been more punchy) and the grandma pizza was perfectly crunchy but also felt it lacked a bit of buzz. Both mains were great and we definitely enjoyed, just missed a certain something.Had to order the tiramisu cocktail, however found it disteresting they no longer serve it with the clarified milk (despite listing on the menu). Still tastes great.Overall, definitely a great meal paired with some delicious wine and cocktails. Just really lacked that special something to elevate it for me.

We came with friends for dinner after having this place on our must try list for a while. We were happy that it lived up to the hype. Pasta dishes were all incredible. Wine selection here is elite and the staff are very helpful with recommendation. Georgie, I think her name was, gave us exceptional service and made the whole experience a delight. Can’t wait to come back here

Tasty pizza and friendly service. The square pizza was filling shared between three. Dog friendly! but limited outdoor seating. The sun was particularly harsh with no umbrellas or shelter.

Pizza so good your dog will go to great lengths to get a whiff of the empty box. We ordered the focaccia, grandma square and ‘roni square. My personal fave was the grandma square. Loved the attention to detail with the cheese and basil on the side!!!!
