A TV is built into the urinal. There is something satisfying about peeing over commercial television.

Great service. Bought a pallet with some fire extinguishers for my home, and went to pick them up. They helped me loading them on the ute with a forklift and off we go. Quick and easy. Thanks

Applied for a job here in Newcastle and the girl said “they would prefer someone younger” but she then went onto say “I will talk to …. As I believe they need someone with older in the role” gave me lip service when I question them why they had not contacted me regarding the role, given my experience.AGEISM AND WHY THEY WON’T HIRE EXPERIENCED PEOPLE?I for one can attest that AGEISM is riff in Australia, as soon as they work out that your over 55 they don’t move forward with your application for employment. It is embarrassing, frustrating and annoying that businesses complain they cannot find staff. There is a component of experienced people in the community that are willing to work, to put in the hard yards, provide a strong workforce.Experienced employees, managers and executive will mentor the younger team. They will lead by example and assist in creating a workforce of dependable, loyal and professional younger team members by offering their training, skills sets, knowledge and attitudes of getting on with the job.Experience staff offer so many benefits to employers that cannot be measured by surveys or quick reviews. It’s is indeed needed to maintain an experience mature team that will enhance the workforce. It is in todays workforce where companies seem to rely heavily on the new digital world to obtain a snap shot of their operations, which is not a true reflection of how effective the new way of ensuring longevity of employment or loyalty of its team will remain with the business or retention of its customers. The new world seems to focus more on transactional employees and customers than relational people.AGEISM is an attitude that is totally unacceptable and it is not being addressed by the community, stakeholders or government. This writer can say with hand on heart that he has been subjected to continual rejections to opportunities because of his age, not his experience only his AGE.The following is an extract from COTA:Ageist attitudes in the community mean that older people are perceived to be less deserving or, alternatively, are incapacitated and in need of protection. Ageism is discrimination based on age, without any evidence base, and is especially prejudicial and detrimental to the very old (often called “the elderly”. In this context, ageism is the inability or refusal to recognise the rights, needs, dignity continuing contributions, and value of people in an older age group. More widely, ageism also denotes the devaluing of various traits of character or intelligence as ‘typical’ of the members of the older age group.Ageism is endemic in our society. It is experienced by older people in the forms of speech by which they are addressed, evident in the media where negative and ageist stereotypes are promulgated, and in the health system where organisational and process bias invariably tends to give older people and their illnesses a lower priority. Ageism is also apparent in reduced access to employment, in the attitudes of employers to older workers, in lack of access to appropriate training and professional development and, in general, in the undervaluing of the skills, experience and earned wisdom of most older people.
