Birth Aims - Birth Doula and Lactation Consults

We did the Calmbirth course with Aimee and it was incredible! My husband and I feel so empowered about our decisions and confident in advocating for ourselves moving forward. We weren’t sure exactly how helpful it would be since we are expecting our second child, but the birth of our first child left us feeling like we were unprepared for what happens in the hospital system and how to safely navigate it, so we wanted to do some research this time. Happy to say that the knowledge we gained from Aimee is invaluable, and both of us left knowing that everyone should be doing this course and feeling this reassured about birth. Aimee was such a kind and calming support on my breastfeeding journey. I was experiencing so much pain feeding my baby and was at the point of giving up. I enquired with Aimee and she got back to me so quickly. She was so knowledgeable and supportive. She had such a wholistic approach and looked at my baby and his movements to see what else might be impacting our feeding and was able to identify additional issues we had and provide a range of advice to support. I definitely would have stopped breastfeeding if it weren’t for her and the knowledge she shared. Thank you again, Aimee. I’d recommend her to anyone looking for a lactation consultant.

I initally found Aimee through booking in for a CalmBirth course. Unfortunately my pregnancy hit a few road blocks and I found myself laid up and unable to attend. Aimee being the amazing human she is, kept in touch throughout my entire pregnancy and was honestly a beacon of light in some pretty dark times. Such a beautiful, genuine and caring woman who gave me the confidence to advocate for myself and for my baby. She assisted me with a consult prior to birth and gave me such wonderful advice and education, helping to set me up for a successful breastfeeding journey. I am truly grateful that I stumbled across Aimee and had her support throughout my pregnancy. I can't recommend her more highly and will forever remember the impact she had on my pregnancy, birth and breastfeeding journey.

Aimee has been an integral part of my preparation, birth and postpartum journey. Although I didn't get the birth I'd hoped for I knew with Aimee's help during my preparation that I was informed and empowered to make the best decisions for me and my baby. Aimee's ILB certified lactation support was invaluable in those early breastfeeding days when I was ready to give it all up, I've now made it to 90% breastfeeding and a little top up of expressed breastmilk or formula - this is so much better than I thought I could achieve after having to formula feed my first baby! I am so proud of what I've achieved with Aimee's support, knowledge and bottomless kindness and will be forever grateful to have had her be a part of our journey ❤️

Aimee is an absolutely amazing doula and IBCLC and all round wonderful human. I would highly recommend her to anyone needing support in their pregnancy, birth and/or postpartum journey. Probably one of the best investments I made in my second pregnancy. Aimee helped me feel empowered, informed and supported every step of the way and has an incredibly warm and empathetic energy. Aimee was my Doula for my VBAC. From the moment I first met with her, I knew she was exactly the person I was looking to be with me in birth. She made me feel entirely supported in my decisions while also providing me with resources throughout the pregnancy and helped me find answers to all my questions. She made me feel excited for my birth as well as completely prepared. She also helped my husband in feeling prepared and supported throughout the whole process. She was incredible during the labour and delivery and I don’t know what I would’ve done without her. If you are looking for a supportive, educated and all round beautiful soul look no further!

If this is you right now then neither do you, you’ve found your doula!Aimee provided invaluable support for my partner and I throughout my pregnancy, labour, birth and beyond. She has a wealth of knowledge and provided it in a calm and gentle way.With this knowledge Aimee made me feel empowered during a time in my life where I had a lot of questions and anxieties.I birthed in a hospital setting and Aimee helped me navigate the complexities and policies and supported me to implement things that I wanted for myself and my baby.Aimee also cooked and brought us beautiful home cooked meals and snacks after birth, provided a very helpful birth debriefing session and consistent support with breastfeeding.Aimee made me feel safe, supported, cared for and heard throughout our time together. We benefited greatly from attending the Calmbirth course with Aimee as educator. Aimee is welcoming and creates a safe space for participants to engage with her, the course content, and each other. Aimee is clearly very passionate about what she does, has a wealth of knowledge and experience to share, and does so very generously. We especially appreciated that she was able to speak authoritatively and fairly on the state of research and evidence in the area and know this will be a great help for us to communicate with our care providers.

I first enlisted Aimee’s help with my first daughter, born 2021. Due to a few complications, our breastfeeding journey was proving difficult. Aimee was a great support then, and I was fortunate enough to be gifted an antenatal session with her for my second daughter (born 2022). I really wanted breastfeeding to go better this time around, so I collected colostrum prior to our scheduled cesarean. Aimee supported me in this, with techniques and storage ideas etc. We also talked through the first breastfeed, and the ‘rules’ of a good latch etc in preparation.Aimee was available for support in the early days, as well as visiting us in hospital. I’ve felt supported and respected along this journey. Aimee is not forceful or opinionated in her support, she offers research and advice if requested, but is after the best results for you and your babe.Definitely the greatest gift for new mums or mums experiencing difficulties breast-feeding.
