If there was an option for no stars I would have chosen it. So disappointed with this place which was once my local. We went there last weekend for a friends daughters 11th birthday. We had entrees and mains and then wanted to sing happy birthday with a cake and candles we brought from home. We were told that this wasn't allowed and it would cost us $20!!!!! We decided to buy some ice cream instead and just sing happy birthday without eating the cake. Just as we were about to burst into song, a waitress came up and said sarcastically I'm glad to see you are following our instructions and eating the cake anyway". I was mortified that she would be so rude and ruin a young girls birthday. Of course I gave her a piece of my mind but it really ruined the whole night. Earlier in the evening I heard the chef yell at her and the other waitresses for small errors they had made. Overall it was a terrible atmosphere with grumpy and RUDE service."

Ordered the pan fried pork schnitzel. It was overcooked, dry, tough and tasteless. I could not cut it and had to rip it into strips by hand. Time to get this off the menu and replace it with lamb sausages, mash and mushroom gravy.

I just received a phone call from the Hotel staff saying my room booking has been canceled due to overbooking. He specifically quoted that a long-stay tenant would take the room I had booked.I asked why my room was being canceled as I booked over the phone on 1/10/2022, it was explained to me that the hotel was already completely booked at the time and that a staff member error was at fault. This was because they had two booking books, one for a short stay and one for a long stay.I asked if anything could be done, and the response was straight no. I would not recommend booking any type of short-stay accommodation, as it seems your booking can be canceled fairly abruptly with no real warning so close to your event date.My booking date was 17/12/2022, this may seem a reasonable time of notice of overbooking but I question why it has taken 7 weeks for someone to let me know of the overbooking. Now I need to book a much more expensive hotel to stay close to my event or book a hotel further away to find something in a similar price range, but then have to fork well over a hundred dollars extra in transport to and from my event.This is not a great experience and I won't recommend this place to stay, I know it won't make much of a difference but I hope potential customers have a fair warning of what could come.

The bistro food & service is second to none.The steaks are AMAZING along with everthing else on their vast menu.I'm a local & regularly take my friends to eat here. They have all been suitably impressed.Never disappoints. Congratulations chef & waitress. Keep up your excellent work.

I’ve tried the Father’s day menu which started with smoked duck breasts which had the best blend of tastes by far. On the first bite the sliced breast was very tender with nice smoky flavour and little bit of sweat tale. The main course was duck leg which was so tender that it literally melt in my mouth. It was like eating chocolate that tasted like a duck. I’d like to express my compliments to the chef. It was definitely extraordinary dining experience, I’ll be back for sure.

Great little pub, food awesome but need to sort out the smoking room. The front bar stinks of smoke, too much traffic with smokers opening their door so close to front bar... every time I go need to wash clothes as soon as I get home

I have visited the restaurant on Father's day weekend and decided to choose from a special menu both starter and main meal. The food was absolutely delicious. As a bonus they had a Czech beer on tap. Definitely reccomend this place.

Well the restaurant has reopened after the Hotel had a rear renovation.I had a supposed 400G T Bone steak which was like a piece of chewing gum off your sole and when it showed up it looked like a 200G steak. It was supposed to medium rare but was medium well done. The chips were 70% fat and the coleslaw was tasteless. Nothing has changed in this Hotel since about 3 years ago when they had an awesome chef and menu and was a go to place locally to eat and now its better to go to the Oxford hotel Cnr Lyons Road and Victoria Road where you do get great food and the steak does look 400G.
