Mountain River Patisserie

We've recently discovered this little hidden gem and we are so glad we have. The food, drinks and Hokkaido cheesecake are amazing. We tried the country quiche, dairy milk hot chocolate, coffee and black sesame cheesecake. All of these were absolutely delicious and some of the best we've ever had. I would highly recommend checking this place out.

What a comfortable place with cute tiny decorations and items. Not overly sweet/salty but subtle natural flavours. The matcha is beautiful, the colour and flavour is perfect - not overly milky or watery, just perfect.

Wonderful coffee and a great selection of treats. No too much seating. The staff is quite pleasant and genuine.Definitely coming back.

Love this place, super friendly staff. They are super busy on the weekends so the line is quite long. Love that they have dog menus and is dog friendly as well. We had a great time!

My partner and I had morning tea here on a Saturday morning around 11am. It was bustling with customers, but luckily we arrived before there was a long queue out the door and were seated quite quickly.The matcha was delicious, and the coffee art was beautiful. The original cheesecake was delicious (not as good as Hokkaido cheesecakes I’ve had in Japan but dang good for Australia) and the i vegetarian onigiri was tasty. The little bits of mushroom throughout was delicious, although some filling in the onigiri would have been nice. The cafe itself has a gorgeous aesthetic with little touches of Japanese culture sprinkled throughout (the little market area with goods from local businesses and flowers was so cute) and lovely staff, but some items on the menu felt a bit overpriced like the onigiri and quiche. The wait was also quite long for our items, which the staff apologised for. The menu was both limited and expansive - there weren’t too many savoury options but they had more flavours of cheesecake and canele than I knew existed. A few more savoury / substantial options would do well.Overall, a lovely place to spend your morning. Thank you for having us, we look forward to coming again.

Nice, strong hojicha and matcha lattes. Very yummy. Sweetness level can't be adjusted. Could improve on the service (to be fair, the Japanese lady who took our order was very nice). Didn't feel too welcome so skipped the cakes. From memory, when we frequented their previous Salisbury location, cake offerings were also very good. Would return for takeaway. $16 for two medium lattes.
