Marlborough Hotel

This place is so unsleepable we stayed for 2 hours and just drove away at 11pm... the pillows are filthy, covered in yellow stains and say change in 2018, the neighbours can be heard doing something as quiet as sniffling so you can imagine everything noisier than that penetrates into your room, and the smell in the room made us both feel unwell. Stained and ripped up old carpets and uncomfortable springy beds with bright hallway light coming in all around the door, plus a couple remnants from the previous guests and the smoke alarm ripped out of the ceiling. We're accustomed to low budget sleeping and we're currently living in our ute but this was another level... $55 for a shower and a headache! And an insight into several guests lives through the walls. The woman next door had a nice singing voice and her partner had a slight cold. This place is probably not too bad for camping in all fairness to it but the pub water pump goes off loudly and the traffic is a bit noisy. We probably would've just slept in our rooftop camper and been okay with that if we realized camping was available before we paid for a room, but after getting into the room we were just so over the noise from the pub and other guests and had enough. Wouldn't even pay $25 on purpose for that room.... $55 feels like theft. It's bad enough where you feel like they should pay you to stay there. For real. But the showers outside in the separate building you have to walk out to were nice.... except for that you have to go outside to get to them (which is fine for camping but not cool for a motel) and there are only 2 for the whole motel and campsite to share.This place sucks! Driving up to Mackay instead... at midnight. Because thats better than being at this motel. The guy who we booked with on the phone and the girl working the bar when we arrived were really nice. They are the only thing that get any stars.

Classic country pub with a pool table, and memorabilia of the Marlborough community. Great friendly staff and good a classic bunch of locals. Bit rough around the edges but worth a look to support the local crew. Food available for lunch and dinner, however we only stayed for a drink.

We have been regular guests at the pub for about 15 years whilst driving between Brisbane and Townsville.The price is reasonable and the meals are great. We always get a good sleep and enjoy the included light breakfast in the morning. Recommend the quaint but old fashioned hospitality.

Went in Jan 2022. Heard friends talking about going up north to Townsville, and remembered my experience. Location is good, food is pretty affordable and good in taste and quality, but service is horrendous. Got yelled at by staff, toilets were falling apart. They even had the audacity to yell at a group of kids who were not even doing anything. They just yelled at anyone and everyone for no reason. Go to the servo, or literally any other place, as there you will be appreciated, and treated like a human. Don't go your service will not be appreciated at all.

Best food, camped behind the pub had a meal was absolutely delicious. Do your self a favour and stop here you want regret it .Camping available at $5 per person hot showers and ammenties.There is plenty of room !

Pulled in with our vans out the back, paid 5 bucks for use of shower / toilet. Had fun night in friendly bar. American tourists couple took a room and thought they were on the set of Crocodile Dundee. Loved this place, just real Aussie.
