Loving little place set in the gardens. It is a free activity but gold coin donation appreciated here. If you love orchids. Then need to take time to visit.

In the Orchid House the staff are friendly and have a great knowlegde of the plants. This is a free Mackay activity and well worth the effort

The tropical vegetation, family facilities and open grassy space of Queens Park can be reached on foot from the CBD.There you’ll discover the Ken Burgess Display House, built in 1988 to show off an astounding collection of orchids in a naturalistic setting, viewed on circular walkways.Reopened in 2020 after a renovation, this is one of the largest attractions of its kind in Australia and has such a wealth of orchids that you could easily spend a couple of hours identifying them.For the most part these often bizarre flowers are rock and tree orchids, but there are some growing in the ground in beds.

The Orchid house is a beautiful little space full of amazing orchids of all types and is run by friendly staff and volunteers. There are always beautiful flowers to see.

I enjoy this place, if you want to see lots of orchids in bloom, it's best to ask/call in advance, because bloom time is a very good time to visit, but there are still many other interesting ornamental plants

Beautiful collection of orchids, some native and many in flower at the moment. Also cool to see other fascinating tropical plants in there. All flat with some chairs inside.

Tucked away inside the octagonal building at the centre of the park, this place is a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of Mackay.It's open at odd times, so check before you plan to visit.Inside you'll find a large collection of orchids and bonsai trees layed out with easy labels and descriptions.Note that we understand that the house is going to be renovated and the collection moved to the Botanical Gardens, so check.Recommended

Mackay Orchid House
There were enough orchids to keep me interest in March 2022. The best flowering time is September thoughand they have an orchid sale with local vendors. Not sure of the date this year. Beautiful tropical plants in their own rights set amongst the orchids. Loved it.
