Budget Car & Truck Rental Hobart Airport

Possibly the best customer service I’ve received ever. On a booking level it was very easy to check through & collect the car. However the ultimate customer service was received as “after service” . I left a personal belonging in the vehicle and did not realise until I reached home (interstate). Lillian went out of her way to locate the missing item and arrange the return in her own time. This was so unexpected from a car rental company and a pure act of kindness. Thank you Lillian, I will be 100% sure to use Budget Hobart upon my return visits. Thank you for your outstanding service and kindness.

My following review is not on the customer service or the costing, my review is for the car that I rented.Service was outstanding and I loved how they did not push us into getting all those extras that add up.When I booked, I was informed I would get a Toyota Camary or similar.The car I was given was a Renault Koleos.I have driven a few cars in my time and this car was shocking.It had no guts, struggled to go up the slightest hill (And Tassie is filled with them). It guzzled the fuel, was overdue for a service and was making loads of noises. This car was bit built for Tassie roads.The cruise control set up is pethic (the on off switch is on the middle console).The seats were uncomfortable.Shocking car overall and Budget need to sure they rent cars that are not due for servicing.

I am astonished at the disparity in reviews, it seems they are all 1 star or 5 star. For us, it was 5 star. We extended our trip by 1 week and would need a car to travel. So I booked online. When our TransTasmania bike race bus dropped us off with our baggage, I went to the counter, no wait, and had signed all the forms within a few minutes. With keys in hand I walked over to the lot and picked up a beautiful brand new white Toyota RAV4 with 10k miles on it. Tank was full and everything was perfect. We were able to fit 2 bike bags in the back and started on the second half of our wonderful Tasmania adventure. The car was perfect (my regular drive is an FJ cruiser) and sipped gas. On return, the lot was full, and I asked a Budget attendant where to park, she directed me to a few open nearby stalls and said she would meet me there. A quick check of the outside and gas tank, and I was on my way. I have rented many cars and I would say this is the best, most streamlined experience I have had. Highly recommended! Car we received was an MG- absolutely horrible thing to drive. When we picked up the car the total price for the rental was debited and held by budget (rental and deposit). On bringing the car back we had the rental amount debited from our account again... we were informed that we'd get the initial amount back in up to 10 business days.Literally no other business I've dealt with holds the rental and deposit as one transaction. The deposit should be taken as a separate transaction so customers aren't double charged while they wait weeks for their money to be returned, but hey, I guess it's slightly less work for you guys!

We had a bit of a drama where we accidentally left our car key at a restaurant in Hobart. Called Budget downtown and Wayne (the legend) sorted out immediately with an alternative vehicle. No fuss and what a life saver. We managed to find the key and return the original car with no hassles. Great to experience such great service so our holiday could continue without disruption. Thanks Wayne and team Budget in Hobart!!!

Super doggy! The quoted amount is $1539 and which is also the amount on hold. They firstly printed a weird contract which cannot show the price with even a wrong Rego. I had to go to the office in Hobart get them reprint, but price still no show. I returned the car at Launceston airport. During the whole process no one mentioned about add on charge or deposit. And today, they charged $1713 while still have $1539 on hold whiteout any notification on how long they will hold it. And off course, their customer service line is closed. Budget car rental is the only stain of my TAS trip.

Everything was as you would expect from car rental. The only thing is that Australian summer in Tasmania is full season, and prices for car rentals are sky-high.

Fastbreak Pick up: Proceed to the Budget Fastbreak line or Budget rental counter. Present your driver licence and receive your rental agreement and keys.Fastbreak Return: Park the vehicle and lock it. If a return agent is not available in the rental car park, proceed to the rental counter/office with your vehicle keys, mileage and fuel level. You can access your receipt online within 72 hours of returning your vehicle.

This place was my first impression of Tasmania and it felt like a kick in the teeth right off the plane. Terrible customer service. Front desk didn’t know how to resolve my issue, provided no contingency to my issue, and refused to let me speak to their supervisor for advice on my issue.

I rented a car with them, used to move around Hobart with a backpack, they claimed I had caused a hole in the trunk.Definitely recommend you take pictures of the outside and the inside when taking the car with them, they're shady.
