The Grumpy Baker

Wonderful little rustic & retro cafe situated on a quiet street across from the dog park, beautiful & relaxing views, nice flowers along the apartments up the hill, very soothing. The coffee here is fantastic, very smoothly brewed coffee done by proper baristas, smooth & slightly chocolate like blend, no bitterness, perfect on a winters morning. The cheese pastry sticks are flakey & delicious, highly recommend. I haven’t personally tried the pies & sausage rolls, but I’ve heard they’re both pretty decent, & are baked fresh. Service of staff was average, nice people. Will definitely come back to sit down & enjoy properly once the restrictions ease.

Good little bakery. They had a range of fresh bread and pastries. Enjoyed the cheese and spinach boureka and lamington. Kids really liked the milk buns. Coffee was ok, nothing special. Would come back if in the area.

Great coffee, ordered a long black. Wonderful, tasty, decent sized sausages rolls. Worth the visit.

LovelyLittle spot for a pie brekky or bread. Coffee ok, Bircher muesli fantastic and the bacon and egg roll might just be the New Years Day hangover cure. Nice people

I only had the coffee, but it was great, and if you looking to pick up the basics, you can get bread, eggs and milk here

Enjoyable little bakery - we ordered both some take away coffees and some pastries (cheese and spinach boureka plus an almond croissant) and they were lovely, fresh and warm. The coffee was good and service was lovely by the warm staff.

Very nice homemade traditional sausage roll, one of the more authentic delicacies from the area. High grade mince, fluffy supple pastry, the shining light at the end of the ambiguous tunnel guarded by utmost secrecy that is the commercial baking sector.

The cinnamon rolls used to be out of this world. However the last two times we got them they were stale and lacklustre. Coffee is decent.Also a bummer that we come here when in town and a few times that google have said they’re open yet we rock up to them being closed.Short note: consistency is key. Not sure we’d be back.

I used to stop by this place every time I visit my sister over the bridge. It’s been over a year since I’ve been here and the quality of everything has dropped poorly.The team used to be welcoming and friendly, always helpful with good knowledge about the products. When I went it the service was disheartening and the sausage roll was god awful.Staff seem exasperated and miserable… makes me believe something isn’t right in the management. Are you being good to your staff? Such a shame
