Visiting Denys' shop was a great experience. He specialises in opals but is also an avid horologist, apiarist and gemologist.If you are looking for a gemstone, honey, or your watch or clock repaired.. then he's your man.

A beautiful array of gems, precious and otherwise. The gentleman who owns/runs the store is lovely and attentive. He has quite a knowledge of gems, and collects them from far and wide. Worth a visit for gem, and jewelry lovers alike.

Entered the store and my partner and I inquired about a necklace. Before pulling it out for us to examine, the store owner began saying it was very expensive and that he had cheaper alternatives. It was very obvious that he had just assumed that because we were young, we could not afford it. It was a really unfortunate experience and I hope he doesn't continue this behaviour as he is simply losing possible clients. Left feeling quit disrespected and will not be returning or recommending this store to anyone.

My teenage son purchased an opal necklace for his girlfriend with his own saved funds from this store, I came along to help choose the special gift. The owner was friendly and helpful BUT only a month or so later, the opal had cracked. I took the necklace back expecting it to be replaced as it was near new and it was hardly worn, and it was quite expensive. The store owner did not agree that it was a flaw of the stone and that the wearer must have damaged it somehow herself and that he would only glue it together for me!!! I was not impressed, so I took it to a reputable jeweller in Springwood who was able to explain in detail how the quality of opals differ greatly and that it was just sub-standard. I would never step foot in this shop again, sadly as I like to support local business - it was a good lesson for my son at least.

Denys is a specialist in Opal. Provide great services and super friendly. Highly recommended for anyone who are keen to buy good quality Opals and Gems. Nested in a historic town with lots to see in the area, worth a look when visiting. 5 stars trustworthy dealer.

Expensive but high-quality and beautiful opals. Wide assortment. Attentive and qualified seller, who knows everything about opals and is engaged in faceting opals himself. You can ask for a discount if buying 3-4 opals, including solid ones. Opals in silver and gold.

Such a fantastic shop. Great quality opal, beautiful set and rare. Fantastic , friendly owner, happy to explain everything about opals, woodwork, fossils. This is the number 1 opal store, will buy there again. Highly recommend for friendliness, craftsmanship and uniqueness!!!

Specialising in opal, the owner/cutter well knows his product, including their source. A good range of average to high quality solid and doublets, matrix, boulder, white, black, etc. I've looked in many opal shops, and it's one of the few places a man can get a pendant that's not set in silver or gold. As always seems to be the case though, the best stones seems destined for a setting. He also repairs old clocks

I went to Katoomba for my anniversary and the service was absolutely amazing. Individualised and perfect. We normally travel over 2 hours to get the caring service at Wollemi Gems and have had custom pieces from this jewler in the past. The jewellery is unique and the opal's in particular are absolutely gorgeous, they always seem to get it just right (especially being a very picky customer!). Highly recommend. 5 stars.
