We had our wedding at DeBortoli this year. It was such a magical day thanks to the team at Locale. All of our guests couldn’t stop complimenting the amazing service, food and wine selection. A big thank you to Laura and her team for allowing my husband Tom and I to have the wedding of our dreams!

Some lovely dishes and great ambience. They did seem a little desperate for patronage though after 2 sms messages and 3 emails to confirm the booking.Also watch out for their booking provider that does not honour Australian anti spam laws. Recommend phoning instead to Berk.

We ate lunch and we were a party of 2 adults and 2 children.The person serving us was extremely rude and without really knowing why, I don’t want to speculate. But, I have a fair idea of why.To be specific and focusing on his actions, rather than the reasons - he was very gracious and chatty to all the tables around us but his attitude to our table was that of extreme rudeness. He didn’t explain the dishes to us, provided no suggestions on pairing, never asked to top up water or wine, literally “threw” the plates on our table and walked away without as much as an acknowledgement or asking for feedback on the meals. I saw that he didn’t exhibit that behaviour to any tables around us.But, one point for the owner/ reservations team to note is that when a table is given with kids, it doesn’t need to be the worst table in the restaurant, right next to the washroom when the restaurant is largely empty.I am happy to give further specifics to the owner if they want to contact me.We left leaving most of our mains and sides uneaten and cancelled our dessert / cheese order.On paying the bill, I gave the feedback and articulated the reasons why I thought the person was rude. The lady helping me settle the bill was extremely gracious and understanding. She offered to take some amount off the bill and I refused as the effect of the feedback is typically taken away if it seems one is giving it to save some money. On very strong insistence, she offered me a bottle of wine as a sign of apology which I appreciated but didn’t expect. But, at least she tried to make a bad situation good.

Visited today for first time to Yarra Valley.First vineyard lunch there.The building and vineyard views were lovely.Reception was very friendly and professionalthe menu looked great- my favourites- Rabbit & Quail.Price was reasonable compared to others- $85 for 2 courses + a side of veges.Wine was nice.Unfortly the food looked good, but was a bit overcooked-especially the pototo gratin, which didnt look good, but rather dry.The rabbit wasnt that tasty, but was beautifully presented.Also the service was very slow - especially considering that there were only 2 others there. I had to ask the waitress if they had remembered my main. She was not very friendly and seemed to take offence.Also would have been better if the Tasting Flute could have been taken to the restaurant to have with the food. . . .(some people cant drink wine without food, for medical reasons).Overall a bit disappointing experience, compared to many vineyard lunches I have had in NZ- all superb. So good that I seek them out, as some of the best meals I have ever had.

Went to this restaurant on 10/9 to celebrate my partner's birthday. We paid 100/person for 3 courses. Every one of her meals was delicious. I cannot say the same for mine. The tagliatelle was 2 min shy of al dente and there was no seasoning at at all in the pasta sauce. My chicken was cold, dry and tasteless. The puree under and the mushrooms were extremely cold. When i sent this back and got a medium rare steak, it came out rushed, charred and medium well done. I couldnt eat this and wouldn't serve it to my dog. My panna cotta was disgusting and inedible. My server only offered to charge me for 2 courses instead of 3 which is a disgrace. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

My husband and I had an amazing experience dining at Locale this evening. Awesome service and food. Terrine and risotto were marvellous and the tiramisu was a delightful surprise! Hoping to come back for more wine!

We visited Locale to celebrate a 90th birthday. Everything about our experience was perfect - great atmosphere and absolutely delicious food. As a food challenged person, I was looked after on an equal basis to everyone else and my meal was equally as good. I’d like to thank Aidan in particular for his consideration and care. Highly recommend this restaurant. Thanks everyone!!!!

My partner and I had a great experience at the Restaurant today. We haven't had the chance to go out on a date for a while, and today was quite memorable. The ambiance was very welcoming and charming and the food was amazing. Do yourself a favour and visit this great restaurant in Yarra Valley. It took us an hour each way, but so worth it. The staff (Jervice and Jacinta) were so nice and Jervice was extremely knowledgeable. The service is unmatched.Highly recommend.
