Statesman Homes

We have just pulled out of building with Statesman homes due to the unprofessional conduct and lack of transparency once our house was in the construction services department. I would strongly recommend people doing there research on this company before signing up. They increased the price of our home and when asked for a breakdown of costs, I was told that I wouldn’t be getting one as they didn’t need to, despite me reiterating that under the building industry act, they cant refuse. Construction services are rude, liars and full of incompetent people who have no knowledge of the building industry.

I honestly thought it could not get worse but after finally reaching completion it does! Yet again and even after paying 90% of the build you are hit with yet another brick wall. No one knows when any work will be done and the same old excuses we have had the whole way through. I really do not know how SA Biggest Builder survives when they apparently have no idea of what is happening and when. It seems like there is very little project management going on. What they are successful in is making mistakes on our build. Our slab was laid missing a drain, so a chunk had to be dug up, the roof leaked when it was fitted and now our portico is not what we asked for. We are just hoping the final look is okay. They have no compassion, and it is so disappointing to drive by and see no work being done when you are being made homeless in a matter of weeks. Our dreams are shattered, and our expectations are lowered. They seem to think that customers can magic thousands of extra dollars to cover temporary accommodation whilst you wait and wait for your homes to be completed. They simply ignore the fact that people are struggling with increased interest rates and living costs and all you get is unanswered emails and texts. We have still to even meet our site supervisor and are in the completion stage having paid most of the build. Shocking does not cover how customers are treated and meanwhile we look around our plot to see many other plots which have been started and are now just sat waiting for the next stages of work to be done. I feel for everyone building through Hickinbotham Group and would advise anyone considering building to run before you get sucked into the lies given in preconstruction.Below is our review at design stage, at this stage everything seemed to be going well. It all changes when you start dealing with the office and not the salesperson.We are building our home through Statesman and would highly recommend working with Anthony Tovey from the Moana Display. He has been incredibly helpful, prompt at answering emails and coming up with ideas we have not thought of. We are now looking forward to building our beautiful new home.

A very disappointing and drawn out experience with Statesman. We originally signed as we purchased untitled land through their larger company 'Land Australia', we were told there would be a four month wait on our title and to sign up to build immediately to 'avoid price rises' in April 2022. This was not the case, as we faced significant price rises throughout our master plan process, the updates was delayed and our footing price doubled in a few short months.Additionally, our building consultant left half way through and we were not told this fact and instead waiting months for a response from anyone after multiple attempts.As our land is still not ready, we decided to pull out of the block and requested our deposit returned as we have not done selections, finished our plans, had any soil or footing reports. We were then told this isn't possible, as they already paid for our footing reports since 'they told their engineer of our job'.Overall a very disappointing experience with the whole Hickenbottom corporation, I would not advice anyone to buy into their land or pay for their services.

DO NOT USE THIS BUILDER. To them you are just a number and another cheque. The quality of work from start to finished was absolutely disgusting and when asked to fix it the response we eventually got was “it’s with in tolerance” no matter how ugly or off putting the finish was. The painting is patchy and sloppy, the gyprock wasn’t flushed smooth And was wavy along the wall leading the skirtings and cornices to be about as straight as wet spaghetti. The slab was poured incorrectly on our alfresco and the whole house was poured a meter back than it should be making my back yard 1m shorter. I’m heartbroken at the final product and there’s nothing I can do about it. Please don’t make the same mistake I and alot of others have made!

From online inquiry to completion, we were delighted. I can't understand why others have complained. As a first time builder, we have also to put extra effort into knowing what needs to be done, not by just relying on the builder itself. If there are items to complain about, I'd like you to please be sure to understand them before publicly whining about them. We spent time and effort to help out the builder in any way we could. It cannot be perfect and squared most of the time, but you will have a place you will call your home by the end of the day. Our maintenance fix was minor, with no leaks and no significant repairs done.The house is excellent, and it doesn't matter if it is big or small. What matters is how you will live in it and make the most of it.

We have had the best experience building with Statesman Homes. Everything from house design planning and changes, to selection, to the slab being poured, to the build and finally the handover were amazing. We recommend Statesman Homes for your next build!!!

I am building a home with Statesman home. So far I have had a fantastic experience.Starting with Anthony Tovey, my sale consultant, he was very knowledgeable, friendly, helpful and excellent communicationHe referred me to SA Building Designers, and had Sarika Dwivedi drawing my plan, she was amazing, I just explained what I wanted once, and my plan was done. Just needed a few changes when I got it.Signed contract in July 2022Thank you Anthony for all your help, much appreciatedAshleigh Green was my dedicated client service contact during pre-construction period. She was also very good, she kept me informed every 4-6 weeks of the progress of the plan. Thank you AshleighSophie Budreika, was my selection consultant, I had the best experience, she was amazing she made me feel so at ease, she was very good at her job.She didn’t push me to make any quick decision. I really enjoyed doing my selections. We signed up with Simon Pakula in April 2021, he was an amazing consultant not at all pushy & very willing to help even outside normal trading hours at the display center. Picked up our Keys yesterday from yet another amazing team member our site supervisor Craig. Craig is an helpful & well organised site supervisor who delivered our house in less than 12months during this time of trade & supply delays & we couldn't be happier with our finished home. Thank you to everyone involved in helping bring our dream to life
