Disappointing experience. I drove for an hour to get there and support a small business rather than fill Spotlight's coffers, only to be treated with disdain by a grumpy, sarcastic woman. She had no interest once she found I was buying thread for a different craft project and not her precious needlework. The shop is full of lovely products if you don't mind being treated rudely.

The products are simply stunning - so many beautiful things to make. And the classes are really good fun. If you love stitching - you must visit the Den!

Had traveled around Melbourne to various places, and this was the only one that had exactly the thread I needed in exactly the shade I needed, because they had the complete set. I.e., excellent stock selection.

This place has everything for hand stitching. Kits from complete novice level to epic level, thousands of threads, books, ribbons, so much stuff. Lots of samples on the walls.

Absolutely lovely little shop. I'm a rather infrequent visitor and it's been something like two or three years since I last visited (thanks, global pandemic and also 1.5h trip time) and I was still recognized! :) Was definitely not expecting it, so a very pleasant surprise.On to the describing!• The store itself is very well organized, and there's always some treasure you can dig up in the discount bins, from metalwork threads to fabric offcuts to discontinued books and patterns.• The lighting is wonderful and consistent over the threads, perfect for color picking and matching.• There's an extensive selection of books, patterns and kits, and a very wide variety of techniques are represented, not just cross-stitch.• Multiple (relatively) small-scale (and Australian!) dyers are represented in the massive thread selection in addition to the big names. Thread types are also a good variety, including stranded and perle silk and wool both thick and fine. Metal threads are in the counter. Overall, a fairly logical layout, I'd say.• This is one of the very few shops I've found in Melbourne that carries leather thimbles and will be my favorite shop forever because of this. (The rest of the haberdashery is as might be expected for embroidery—marking pens, various tools, hoops and frames, and a large display of Mill Hill beads.)• The back half of the shop is a sit-and-sew/classroom space. I've yet to take advantage of this, but I really should.• As for staff, I've only really interacted with Norma, I think, but when there's been assistants in the shop they've all seemed quite knowledgeable in the few things I've overheard. Lovely people, all of them.

Great store, lots of lovely embroidery patterns, threads, gadgets, etc.Sorry I hadn't found it earlier, but I'll be back!

Fabulous embroidery store. Stocks the best of the best. Very knowledgeable and helpful staff. Supports Australian embroiderers and manufacturers too. Do yourself a favour and call by.
