Ben Prior Park

I first came here as a child and met the original proud owner of this place who sat there all day in the open air museum he had created. A man who was like a fascinating book with so many stories. I am sure he was charging an entry fee much higher than the beautiful heritage building musuem and I remember the lovely ladies that ran it found the old boy a bit perhaps too colourful. He was the character. I passed through not long after his passing and at the time it was being deemed unsafe. I was watching tv tonight and I was telling this museums story so we hit Google. What a thrill to see this place still there. Also, what a wonderful job of keeping it better than it began. My late mother's family traveled through there since cars began and saw the beginning of the story. I hope to return here again and urge everybody to check this place and the town out.

Ben Prior Park contains some authentic machinery from 1800's and early 1900's. Thankyou Coolgardie

Lovely little museum, great for a quick stop during our travels. I liked the biographies of Coolgardie Legends and the kids were happy with the playground.

Vintage mining machinery display at the park and free entrance at Coolgardie. Stopover for coffee break and visited Visitors centre nearby.

Lots of old mining gear and some history of the area. Worth a look. It's genuine stuff.
