Icetrek Expeditions and Equipment

Our adventure had everything! Near arctic winds, beautiful bluebird days, skiing, snowshoeing and mountain summits. We had an opportunity to be challenged and learn a lot of valuable cold weather expedition techniques & tips from an expert who has done it all many times. There was also plenty of time to talk of past and upcoming adventures whilst sipping on some whiskey. Having been on many adventurous trips all over the world, this trip was as enjoyable as any of them. Plenty of reasons to dream of a polar expedition and I would definitely travel with Icetrek again.

I recently took part in Icetreks Svalbard training expedition. Our team of 6 people was led by Heath Jamieson. Heath is an exceptionally inspiring polar guide and person. A trait that was invaluable to keep me going!I would say that this is an excellent program to begin any polar aspirations. The knowledge and experience learned in the 6 days was extensive and by no means easy. Make sure you are physically and emotionally up for it. Heath was very supportive in this regard which gave me the ability to carry on.One of the toughest, but best challenges of my life thus far.Icetrek were organised and helpful from the day I made my first email enquiry. Eric and his team are very professional and happy to help.What a great company!!

I took a trip with Eric in the Australian Alps and had a fabulous time. Eric is one of the best, if not the best, Polar guide around. Eric has the perfect nature for guiding and is supportive, accessible and fun to be with and learn from. You won't be disappointed doing a trip with Icetrek!

Eric and Mardi of Icetrek provided an outstanding learning experience in Polar Travel. The recommendations preparing for such a trip were right on as well as the response time if we had more questions. Once in Svalbard, we felt like Eric never tired of explaining how Polar travel works even though he's explained it thousands of time. There was a perfect balance of instruction and letting us figure our our own system. We felt safe and trusted Eric and Mardi with any decision-our weather was awful. Mardi was an outstanding leader despite being half our age. She instructed well with confidence and an easygoing positive manner that we all could learn from. Had I not had horrible blisters, I would have wanted a longer trip. Really outstanding-many thanks Icetrek for a great experience.

I joined a trip to Svalbard in March this year. It was a fantastic experience gaining skills to live in an Arctic/Antarctic environment and long enough to put them into practice. The guides Eric, Heath and Mardi couldn't do enough to teach/help/motivate. Would highly recommend.

I went on a 9 day expedition in Svalbard with Icetrek and it was one of the best expeditions I have ever been on. Eric and Mardi were incredible guides. They have a wealth of knowledge accumulated from lots of experience in the field. I have known Eric for a few years now and he has always been so generous with his hard earned wisdom. I am preparing for a big solo expedition in the future and couldn't do it without Eric in my corner. On our expedition in Svalbard, they always had the most positive attitude, they kept things fun, and they looked out for the safety and well being of everyone on the team constantly. Couldn't have asked for a better experience and I will definitely be going on more expeditions with Icetrek in the future.
