Paediatric surgeons perform the majority of the surgery in children, especially in newborn babies and preschool age children. They work closely in conjunction with your General Practitioner and Paediatrician, a physician who specialises in the medical care of children, who will have made the initial recommendation for your child to see a surgeon.
