Sam and team are fun, supportive & results driven without the ‘body image’ hangups & pressure that usually follows the sport. We love it!

My daughter has been doing gymnastics with Sam and the team at gymnastics 21 for almost 2 years now. She absolutely loves it and is keen to show us her new skills at home!

I highly recommend Gymnastics 21.It’s such a fantastic way to get young kiddies into gymnastics, Sam and the coaches make the lessons fun as well as teaching them the correct and safe movements. My daughter loves it and I love watching her master new techniques every week!!

Sad to say I was really disappointed after enrolling my daughter here for a term. We attended Thornton classes and my daughter was incredibly excited to be starting gymnastics after wanting to do so for years. I found that while the staff were polite and friendly - I can’t fault that at all - there were a few key issues that I was unhappy about.First would be the class sizes of around 10-15 children to 1 teacher. The amount of time within the 1 hour class that my daughter spent standing or sitting down waiting for her turn to do something was sometimes close to half of the lesson of inactivity.Second would be that there needs to be either more teachers or a division in age groups. Children from around maybe 4 in the same class as 8, 9, 10 year olds which also impacted on the levels of inactivity as younger children can take longer to understand, complete there turn and are often more distracted. And most importantly I have to mention that while the girls were friendly and kind, there is a major lack in assertiveness, attention and teaching. I understand they are still young themselves but to be a teacher means you need to take control of the class, demonstrate, teach, correct and support where needed. One particular teacher was very soft spoken and quiet - almost afraid of the children - in a group of 10-15 she would quietly tell them (most times she didn’t even attempt to get the classes attention and they were chatting with the kids beside them) the next task, do a quick demo herself and leave them to it, just standing back and watching them. There was never any intervention if they weren’t doing the right task or anything at all, no attempts to help them improve if not completing it properly, she didn’t speak up and assert to the class to pay attention and most times kids were too busy having a chat and giggle that those waiting in line behind them were left even longer doing nothing. After weeks of excitement began to quickly fade, my daughter ended up refusing to go because in her own words “it’s too boring.. I never get to do anything there” and I’m left wondering why I paid $190 for a term to take my daughter to the local hall to stand around. Also need to mention - $190 for the term and you still need to purchase a plain purple tshirt for $20 and when your child progresses to the next “badge” you need to purchase those for additional fees also... seems a bit overpriced to be honest and I would have assumed that these were included in the term fees.Won’t be re-enrolling and I’d suggest a free lesson to sit and watch before paying for a term.

pros: Great group with dedicated teachers and fantastic customer service, online bookings and super helpful management. Cons: Parking can be difficult at Thornton but not much G21 can do about that!My son is really enjoying his time there and plans to stay as long as he can :)
