We had our old fence replaced by Barry and his friendly team. The price was very reasonable, especially given that we are on a steep block. We were very happy with the job and I am recommending to my daughter to get a quote from them when her new house is finished.

Barry and his team did a great job in replacing our side fence. Although the access and steepness of the site deterred other contractors Barry's team quickly demolished and built a new fence in very cold conditions. I would thoroughly recommend him for any fencing job you may need.

Barry’s workers did a reasonable job on our front fence – removing and replacing the heritage wire and replacing one post. BUT the delays and excuses over nine weeks were utterly infuriating.I paid the deposit on December 7th and when I asked when the job would be done was told in writing “We would have to order the wire, depending on shut down over Christmas for the availability of the wire. If we are able to get some time before Christmas, we may be able to install the posts and pull the wire off, ready for you to paint”.I opted to make it easy for both of us: “Thanks, Barry. Let's leave it for after your holidays, so neither of us is rushed coming up to Christmas. Just let me know a date in January and a time and we'll arrange to be home”. I did not get an answer as to a date in January but assumed that if there was a possibility, as mentioned, that it might be done before Christmas, then I’d be first cab off the rank when most businesses return after Christmas on January 8th.The workers eventually came later in January, removed the old wire from our fence and replaced one post. They said they would be back in one week to install the new wire and finish the job.We busted a gut and painted the fence in three days, informing Barry of such and that we were ready to have the wire fitted. And then it started. Weekly phone calls and messages left every Monday.Barry said there was a delay in getting the wire. I asked why it hadn’t been ordered on December 7th. “Do you know how busy things get before Christmas?” he responded. Sure, but if an order is in, it gets filled more quickly than if it’s ordered a month or two later.He mentioned that the wire had to be powder-coated. I gave him the name of the powder-coaters a kilometre away that powder-coated the gates for the fence for me in just two days.Next he mentioned that getting the wire was the problem. I had already phoned Belmont fencing who told me they could deliver the wire, powder-coated, in one week. I suggested Barry try them.So, NINE weeks after paying the deposit, the job was finally finished on February 15th. Despite this, I magnanimously paid the remainder of the quote a couple of days later, before the 7-day deadline agreement. In other words, I stuck to my end of the agreement. I then received an invoice for an additional $50 plus GST for re-hanging the gates I’d had powder-coated. What a cheek, after all the delays and excuses.I’d suggest that if suppliers are letting them down, find better suppliers. I’d also suggest ordering supplies when the deposit is paid. That way, all the materials are available when they’re needed, the job can be done quickly and the workers can move onto the next job more quickly.Note: I have copies of all correspondence quoted above.RESPONSE TO YOUR RESPONSE: I paid the deposit on December 7th. That wasn't 'over Christmas'. The materials should have been ordered then, not after Christmas, as I detailed in my original post.

Barry and the team transformed my backyard from a jungle of weeds to a functional and enjoyable space, keeping to the agreed budget. Barry was always available to answer questions over the phone and to discuss any concerns I had both during and after the build. I'm looking forward to summer where I'll be able to enjoy my deck and veggie gardens to their full potential!
