LouisJust came back again 2 years later (Jan2023) and got my car towed here. John repaired my starter motor, was great to deal with and gave me a good price. John is great, thank you!

I didn’t have a great experience with this guy.I called up because my Tiguan’s engine had been misfiring and was pleased he was able to take a look the next day. When I dropped it off he made a series of vague comments about how “these cars have problems” and that he advises people to sell them. (Might be good advice but this was a pretty rude start without having looked at it; I also know plenty of people with Tiguans that are doing fine.)It took two calls from me over three days to follow up on him properly getting started on it. In the second call - two days after I’d dropped it off - he got stroppy with me that it was still sitting there and didn’t know what he wanted me to do with it despite us having had two conversations prior where he had said he’d take a look then call me to let me know what it needed.He ended up taking four days to properly have his junior mechanic get to it. The work she did was well priced but hadn’t fully addressed the problem I called with - she told me they were only partly able to diagnose and fix the issue because he didn’t have the equipment for a proper scan, so while it was still misfiring under high acceleration they couldn’t diagnose why.When I picked the car up he tried to tell me they’d “looked all through the car and it had no issues,” although the timing belt would need to be done soon. (There were a number of other issues the jr mechanic recommended I look into including the misfire, some buildup around the engine, and it needing a coolant flush; the car doesn’t have a timing belt.)The casual junior mechanic was lovely but this guy was surprisingly rude and dishonest - not at all what I expected from the reviews below.

I cannot say enough about John and his apprentice who helped with my brake lights today. They helped me feel safe on the road and attended to the repair efficiently and effectively. They have great customer service, and reminded me of the great hospitality and service culture in California, where I grew up.

John is the best persona I ever seen, a truly father, honest person, with high quality values and very responsible. Zap motors is the best place to bring your car for sure.

John is a legend! As a young woman going to mechanics it can be nerve racking but he is really genuine and lovely. Always a pleasure.
