We experienced nothing but disappointment and heartache dealing with this builder. There is so much disconnect between sales and what is actually ordered to construction its comical. Whilst you might be told we can build your new home in 16 weeks what they really mean is that it will be spread over 16 months. Fixed price, no need to worry about increases, we actually believed that....big mistake. Try talking with them about issues, good luck. Our biggest mistake was believing the and signing the contract. We definitely would not build with this company again, good luck if you are considering them.

Recently recieved a key for the house GJ built. I revised the house drawings with Trevor Jones in several places, and he helped me build my first dream house with the best ideas. I think the long journey of building a house has ended great because it was possible to communicate quickly at any time throughout the entire process of building a house as well as drawing and sales. supervisor Paul also handled the work meticulously and quickly.

Shower has been leaking since the home was built. After waiting 6 months for an outcome this is the repsonseYou'll have to wait a while longer till we can attend to your place. We will make contact with you again at the end of April""

We did a knock down rebuild with GJ through COVID and got our house handed over in late June.From the start when Tony the owner actually came and visited our block prior to demolition and Annette from sales that put up with us chopping and changing plans and designs we ended up with the house we wanted in the budget we wanted to spend and all of this in amongst COVID .We have now been in a couple of months and have not found any issues as yet and are more than happy with all finishes and products .We actually received a 3 monthly courtesy call recently to see how we were going and whether there was anything outstanding or anything needing to be done .I personally think they have done a great job in difficult times and have no hesitation recommending to anyone on the coast looking to build .

My partner and I were first home buyers and thought to go with GJ Gardners as they are everywhere and have a trusted name. However we personally had an extremely bad experience.The sales consultant Leah was wonderful to work with, she was very professional and efficient at her job which lead us to want to build with them. After months of designing our house it came to the contract signing which had 16 clauses in the contract which didn’t suit us, 6 in particular that could hurt us financially and could have been negotiable but they refused to negotiate.The major mistake on the contract was they wrote we would be renting the house, which they knew we would be living in the house, which would void all home owner grants. We sent several emails asking them to amend the mistake, however we received back twice that they would not change the contract and it was our choice to sign it.Obviously we decided to not go with GJ Gardners as they would not fix an easy mistake which would of cost us a lot of money. My mother ended up ringing Tony the manager to get a refund, to which he yelled at my mother, told us if we used our custom design plans with anyone else he would be seeking legal actions on us and hung up on her.There was no negotiation, no consideration for our circumstances and we personally felt we were just a number.

Left very disappointed with this build. 9 months after moving in we are still waiting for the electrician to complete the job. The design drawings were different to the finished product. Dimensions that were given for fridge spaces were not followed. The dispay home was different to the end product. Bulkheads that weren't in the display home suddenly appeared. AC ducking consuming already small wardrobes. Walls not straight. Maybe I'm too fussy, but just not what I expected. But during COVID-19 it was always going to be difficult.

Having recently built with this company, I could not state strongly enough to avoid them at all costs. Everything post sales was managed so poorly that there is no other way to describe it other than an absolute nightmare. What was meant to be our dream home ended up feeling like a massive mistake.While we are reasonable and understand that any build is prone to hiccups, the level and amount of mistakes were inexcusable. Anything that wasn’t a standard plan inclusion seemed like too much work for them. The one special inclusion we requested was a specific spa tub that we sourced for medical reasons, however due to their lack of care, they did not use the correct measurements on the plans resulting in us having to settle for a tub that didn’t meet our needs.They were so incompetent that they did not allow enough space for our walk in robe, leading to it not being functional. The only way to fix this issue resulted in us having to lose a considerable amount of space in our bedroom, which was not on the signed contract.Their lack of communication was so poor that it resulted in a contractor being able to let themselves in to the house after we had already moved in, with no warning to us. We had to literally chase them up multiple times to ensure that all keys had been collected because they simply didn’t care enough to let us know and put our minds at ease.It took having to make threats of legal action and consulting with QBCC for them to take anything seriously and have them pay for their own mistakes instead of trying to invoice us for them. Some issues are to be expected, but when you’re blatantly in the wrong and are trying to be deceitful and charge the client for your error that is unacceptable behaviour.

Re: Minyama franchise. We have been living in our GJ Gardner House now for approximately 3 Years. We designed the plans for our house ourselves with a few helpful touch ups from GJ. Leah looked after us during the initial stages of our design process and she was fantastic to deal with. Overall I am happy with the house GJ Gardner provided : the price and quality of build were quite good. However it’s impossible to disregard the diffifulties we had in achieving the final build and dealing with some of the GJ staff. During the contract phase we probably sent upward of 30 emails fixing things in the contract that were blatantly incorrect and when they would “fix” one thing in the plans we would find more mistakes ongoing. They had very poor attention to detail when putting our contract together and if we did not find these mistakes it would have been on us. And unfortunately despite our best efforts mistakes still went through after we signed the contract. These were things only builders would be able to pick up on ! And surprise surprise when it came time to the build and we picked up on the mistakes what did they refer to ? The contract. This is a poor way to do business : as consumers we rely on builders to do the right thing but GJ have no dramas screwing its clients when they are in the wrong if they can get away with it. When we had a problem in the build that did not match the contract they actually went and changed the measurement on the initial contract : not knowing however we printed out the pre signed contract : when they realised they were caught out instead of apologising they sent a relative as a kind of tough talker to talk their way out of it : which they couldn’t. During the build their main contractor pulled out because he couldn’t stand working for them and he was replaced by a junior person who was completely out of his comfort zone. Anything that breaks down after the build is overlooked and not fixed because it’s not deemed “structural”. I will never go with a project builder again. They are ok for first home owners but that’s about it.

Unbelievable team. I built the long bay and they have been so professional and the quality of the home is amazing. They delivered way beyond what I expected and made sure every single thing was perfect.

I’ve had friends go with other builders like Metricon and after comparing notes I am so glad we went with GJ, there were no surprises and no hidden fees, quote was initially higher but that’s because they include things that other builders don’t like fly screens or brick mortar (yes a friend had to upgrade the colour of their brick mortar for a huge fee to suit the bricks he chose).The house went up in 15 weeks 1 day, the sales consultant helped us so much that we’ve invited him around for dinner and become friends, the construction supervisor Wade was so helpful, answering all our questions, always available despite getting hundreds of calls each day, worked hard to make sure the trades did excellent jobs. Honestly couldn’t be happier with the quality of work, communication, friendliness of the GJ team and price. 10/10
