I spent a week in Halls Gap and our journey there started with “The Town Fryer Fish & Chip Bar”.We were friendly welcomed by the two South African fellas. They were really helpful, fun and the food is great too!!!The smell of the freshly baked bread in the morning makes your day trust me!!!They answered our questions as we just arrived into town and they were spot on!Highly recommend if you’re in town!

No tartare sauce. Or a bother to ask/offer. The platter one and platter two are more expensive than just ordering everything separately, and you don't even get a choice of fish. The calamari and scallop were decent, fish was mid, chips were mid, for a fish and chip store this is not ideal. The server seemed kind of grumpy when a couple of ethnic people rocked up too.The only reason this is getting a 2 star overall and not a 1 star is that it has a direct door inside to the gelato store next door.

It's a one stop.Pizza, burgers, fish & chips gelato next door. Sushi, paninis & more. Cold drinks, coffee & alcohol.Pizzas were amazing, except the garlic cheese Pizzas. To much garlic (I love garlic) but this is like the minced garlic mixed with oil.

Delicious gluten free battered fish and chips - even crunchier than the regular - with flavouring and crumbed options. Honestly one of the best I've ever had in Vic. Staff were very friendly and careful to check all gluten free options. Looks new - large space with no seating - so keen to return when they've settled in. Well priced in comparison to it's Melburnian gluten free counterparts too!

Nearly 4 star but it's nothing too special. Don't expect value for money. Very limited options portions are inconsistent and they are prone to being upselling types always trying to push you onto salads, sauces and extras.Takes the characteristic fish and chip joint experience to a new low.Food isn't terrible but sometimes the chips are like cardboard.Have had times where two pieces of flake and one is half the size of the second.Irrespective if you're in town you have little other choice for fried food.

Food was delicious and portions were excellent! They gave many options on how the customers could have their fish done and that’s great. Pricing was also affordable! The fish was crispy and well seasoned. Would definitely visit again if I ever go back :)

Very tasty food and great staff! Highly recommend the gummy (shipped twice daily so very fresh) with panko bread crumbs. The deep fried calamari was definitely a winner as well. Very tender and juicy wasn't stringy or rubbery like other places. Great place to eat if you're down in the area.

Best tandoori pizza. Tastes better than most famous indian restaurants and pizza places in Melbourne. The only thing missing are chilli flakes to add a bit of spice kick

An absolutely delightful meal while visiting Halls Gap. The flathead fish was fresh, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The chips came in a generous serving size for the medium, and the entire meal was more than enough for two people.Prices were very reasonable, especially compared to the other options in the area. Such a great deal for amazing food.Lovely ambience and such friendly staff, they made our dinner on a cold and rainy night such a hearty one. Not to mention the lively music playing from the Sonos Ones in this shop and the neighbouring gelato shop. Thanks for having us!
