Bupa Aged Care Runaway Bay

My mother spent 6 awful months in this BUPA Runaway Bay facility before her death in March 2021. As a former nurse, my advice would be to run as far away as you can from any BUPA facility if this is an example of aged care in Bupa and I think this facility is not aberration. Without hyperbole, Bupa Runaway Bay's total incompetence, lack of compassion, and inability to take responsibility for negligence makes the case for medically assisted dying and to just skip going to an aged care home. If this is an example of aged care in Australia, then we are in deep trouble and I fear for my own end of life arrangements. Great staff

Some of the staff are nice, others indifferent, but overall Management is only interested in the money they can make out of the inmates". My relative is not treated with dignity by Management. The decisions made by Management are effecting her mental health and well being. The activities are also demeaning to any person who has has capacity or any self respect."

When my mother had to make the decision to move from her home to Aged Care, it was a move she really didn't want to make, but she knew it had to be made. After visiting almost all Aged Care facilities from Broadbeach to Hope Island, she, and the family, felt that BUPA at Runaway Bay was the best fit. It has a homely feel, with a modern look, and such friendly staff. The rooms are big enough for a few pieces of home furniture. They made the transition as stress free as possible. The facility is always immaculate inside and out. All the staff, whether they be from Admin, the Care team, or the maintenance, cleaning, or kitchen teams, always greet you with a smile, and a quick chat if they aren't busy. Communication regarding mum's care and needs was always prompt and informative, and when anything needed to be addressed, they welcomed feedback and suggestions.We couldn't recommend this establishment more highly
