The Ashby Bar & Bistro
We found the venue was to small; not enough seating and to crowded. People getting bumped all the time and drinks being spilled onto people. Won't be going to your venue for anymore show's but the band was excellent. Food earlier was very good at the restaurant.

Went to the Ginversity event in January, it was brilliant. We've already booked in for the next one.Only suggestion would be to turn the misters on next time it's a 37⁰c day as it was very warm in the courtyard where the event was. Also, the platters seemed like they had been exposed to open air just a little too long and were a little the worse for wear for it - but again it was a very warm day so no actual complaints. Staff did a great job, venue was lovely and it really was a great event - that's why we're coming back!

Was hanging for a pub meal and the Ashby didn't disappoint!! Came on a Wednesday and was glad it was Parma & Pint night. Beer was cold, Parma was delicious and the kids meals where well priced and big serves.Love the look of the place and the service was great.

After 7 instances of the Ashby contacting me to confirm and remind me of my booking for 4 people last night, it is incredibly frustrating to have arrived to no table. Although the host was able to put two little round tables together for us to awkwardly sit on , if an establishment is going to spam their patrons with reminders they should at least have their floor plan accurate to their bookings. Following this, when we ordered our food one meal was not put through when we ordered. I went to the bar to find out it wasn’t ordered and had to wait for one of the three people behind the bar to notice me.

Lovely venue with a great selection of drinks and a not-too-large menu. All favourite traits of mine. This, combined with the generous portions makes for a great night. The only issue I had was the lack of cutlery and napkins at the tables we sat at. Not a big deal, but enough to knock it down to 4 stars. Will visit again!

Cracking venue. Service could be improved. But food was delicious.Fantastic craft beer selection!My old review above from a year ago.New review from Jan 2023.I asked for a hazy IPA, or an IPA, they gave me 150 lashes....They had a couple of IPAs on tap when I eventually went to check the taps out, so am amazed they served me this.For a craft beer venue, they should be promoting the craft beer more, and definitely not supplying 150 lashes to someone asking for an IPA.Second minor issue,I'm vegetarian, so I asked if the plant based patty could be in the burger instead of beef... Apparently this is too difficult to do, and they did ask the chef, but he straight out said no.So thanks chef, I ordered your vegan burger and it was gross, the best thing about it was the patty.Chips undercooked too.

Yesterday with members of a club we attended lunch. We had a good meal. The food, venue & services were excellent at our table. I would return should there be another club function in 2022 at the venue.The venue was bright, modern & spacious. Many parking spaces infront of venue. The staff was friendly & helpful. They were organised & competent who served 40 members of our club. They gave clear instructions how to order our meal. Food was fresh, well plated & attractive presentation. I had fish, squids, chips & salad. Some of the members on my table had steak, pork, chicken, etc...

The Ashby has beautiful decor that's modern and has a warm feel to it.To start we ordered a garlic bread and pork belly bites. The pork belly bites were a little overcooked and in my opinion, overpriced at $18 for 3 small pieces.For mains my son ordered the pasta special, Chicken and Bacon Ravioli, and I ordered the Main of the Day, Atlantic Salmon.My salmon was cooked perfectly, however the garlic prawns were very salty.The staff were friendly and attentive.Overall a pleasant experience.

Not a bad venue, the decor is nice and modern, staff are nice. However the food was very average when we booked a table for 12 on a cold rainy Saturday lunch. Maybe the chef didnt want to be at work. Half of us ordered steaks. They were dry, tough and over cooked. The side salad was just mixed bag lettuce. No cucumber, no tomato, no dressing. Poor value for money and bland especially when you pay $36 for a 250 gram sirloin. And also management please put on two staff minimum at the restaurant bar. The poor guy serving a restaurant full of people was unfair. And the wait times for a drink was frustrating. These places that try to save money by having one staff serving drinks is going to lose customers. Up your game Ashby. We will be back for a summer drink but not for food.
