Bad school and here are some of my many many reasons.1. Threatens to suspend students for having cuffed pants. They say you’re not allowed cuffed pants because it’s a school rule. It’s not even in the school diary.2. Teachers are racist; I heard a teacher telling students to stop speaking their language because it doesn’t make sense and that they should just speak English3. Suspends students for wagging classes. It’s a pretty stupid consequence for the students because the school is just giving what the students want and that is to not be at school.4. Wasting thousands of dollars for a stupid fence that is really inconvenient. Instead the money could have just been used for renovations of old rooms.5. J block locker area; When you get out of class late and you just got to your locker teachers constantly tell you get out of the locker area. What are you supposed to do? Not get your food and starve? It may not even be the student’s fault that they got out of class late.6. Some teachers tell you can’t go to the toilet during class. Ok so I guess students will just piss themselves then.7. Threatens to suspend students for standing on the footpath near the bus stops across the road from the school. Honestly, the school either threatens to suspend or actually suspend students for the simplest and dumbest reasons.8. They say teachers don’t yell at students. LIES! I’ve heard several teachers yell at students before.9. At the tuck shop, you can’t get the “FREE” spoons and “FREE” straws unless you buy food. Hmm... I guess their not free then. Also, even if you do buy food but it doesn’t need a spoon or straw, the tuck shop ladies make a big deal about it.10. The deputy principals are rude.11. If an SEP student threatens you or bothers you, you’re the one the gets in trouble.THERE ARE JUST TOO MANY REASONS TO LIST!!

I just graduated from this school after 4 years of enrollment, so I know what goes on around there. The academic facilities at the school are actually rather good except for a few quirks here and there. The teachers are largely competent, their materials are up to date and as far as I know, the school has a pretty top-notch academic record. The school is EXCELLENT with their bullying policy. I've attended many different schools over the course of my education due to moving house a lot and Centenary is the best one in that regard. If you report an instance of bullying you can bet money that the school will be all over it like ants on honey. And that's about where the good things stop. Before I get started, I'll say that I'm not some malcontent who was always in trouble and has a grudge against the school. In fact I was at Gold Level, my Oneschool record is flawless and I even acquired the Principal's Recommendation Scholarship. Many of the classrooms lack chairs that don't have uneven or wonky legs and even less have air conditioning (Though most of the staff rooms do. Go figure). Most of the classrooms do not have curtains to block out the sun for when the projector needs to be used.Maryanne Walsh, the Principal of the school. She is by far the biggest failing point. I found her to be extremely unfair when dealing with most internal matters within the school and administers excessive punishments for minor transgressions. She appears to be only concerned with the public image of the school and herself and ignores the needs of the students that she is supposed to be leading. She avoided interviews with my parent, making it very difficult to voice concerns over the occurrences within the school. I found her rules policy to be draconian over mundane things such as the colour of socks, the use of schoolbags, the times that you are allowed to access your lockers and even students at shopping centers after school has finished. For example, if you wear any colour of socks other than white, you will face punishment. You are not allowed to carry a bag during school hours; you must keep your bag in your locker. I was threatened with suspension for carrying my bag around the school and the school did not reply to my parent when she attempted to contact the school in relation to this issue.Students are not allowed to go to the adjacent supermarket that is across the road from the school after 3:15 PM and the Principal actually hangs around that area during that time threatening students away, despite the fact that they are legitimate paying customers. The school staff have a very strong culture of protecting each other from the students. It is extremely difficult to voice concerns over the conduct of a teacher, teacher aid or staff member due to the joke of a complaints system that they have. I tried to lodge a formal complaint about a teacher and I was told that unless I had a majority of students from my class supporting the complaint, the complaint would not be recognized even when it is addressing serious matters. This makes it very difficult to get anything done about a teacher, as many students will not support a complaint for fear of action being taken against them by the school.

Discriminatory school!Don’t bother putting your kids through school if they have any mental health issues or disabilities (ADHD, depression, anxiety and learning disabilities especially). They will be bullied by staff and kicked out for not meeting standards. They kicked my disabled sister out for not meeting the NORMAL class standards and refused to place her in the classes that would have helped her. Threatened to kick out my brother with ADHD ( whom is now at a different school who actually understands these issues) and refused to even place me in the school with severe depression and anxiety. They only care about how they look in the state curricular system.

I've placed both my kids through this school. Had no major issues. Both were/ are happy here. As ones graduated already and other still here. As parents, we've been happy with the school.
