Zig Zag Railway - NOW REOPEN
Had the privilege of attending on Sunday 27th May 2023, for the official 're-opening'. The reopening marked over a decade of hard work and perseverance restoring - repairing the devastation of bushfires - unbelievable achievement! If the engineering marvel, beautifully cared for heritage steam loco/carriages, and magnificently scenic location are not enough - go for the super friendly (& dedicated) staff/volunteers. I had the pleasure of meeting a lot of them - who were emotional to see so many happy faces finally getting to enjoy their hard work. There wasn't a moment the whole day where you couldn't simply turn your head to see one of them enthusiastically helping, explaining, or engaging with the customers.Being sold-out, it was a 'pressure-test' for them im sure - one which they managed to pull off seamlessly and safely.Go buy a ticket, some souvenirs, and thank/support these wonderful people, who have laboured at length to preserve a unique part of our history, thats right on Sydney's doorstep. ❤️

Great afternoon out. The train has been restored perfectly and the trip was very informative. Highly recommend it. Toilet facilities at all three stations. Gift shop and cafe at the start/end - Clarence. Trip last 90min and is worth the money.

Newly reopened and very popular. Everything is neat clean and tidy. The ride was entertaining and certainly worth a try.Seats are in groups of four facing each other, but knee room is good. The side of the carriage closer to the platform at Clarence (or the side further from the platform at Bottom Points if boarding there) is the better place to sit for the views. If it is at all cool dress warmly. There is, as expected, no heating and many of those on board will choose to have the windows down.

I last attended the zigzag when I was a child, so returning 35 years later was a treat. If you like steam trains, if you like mountains, if you like history, if you like doing something different - highly recommend attending a trip on the zig zag!

The railway has been completely repaired /restored by a passionate team of volunteers and looks great!! Fire and flood damage forced it to close for more than a decade. It is now about to reopen to the public, and when it does, I recommend a visit.

Great experience all around. The check in process was easy though I recommend printing a paper version of your ticket as there is limited/no phone reception at Clarence. The ride was amazing, passing through dark tunnels and over steep viaducts with fantastic views of the mountains (sit on the right side for the best views. There is ample time to explore the platform while the train is stopped. The gift shop is well stocked with souvenirs to satisfy every rail enthusiast.
