Definitely worth seeing, a lot of changes made to entrance, personally I prefer the old entrance but I guess it had to happen.

The old Convict Church at the historic Port Arthur Penal Settlement, was built by convict prisoners back in 1836-37 using stone and timber from the surrounding forest. It was devastated by a fire in 1884 so all that stands today is the stone outer walls. The Church, built in a Gothic style, was built on the high ground overlooking the penal settlement and was large enough to hold over one thousand during its services. It was compulsory that the prison population attend the Sunday service held in the church but this seemed to have little impact on reformation. It's very popular today for weddings and community events.
