Beautiful spot and very well maintained almost looked like an apartment block as we came in.The moon was reflecting off the water and setting a very romantic mood for an evening stroll with my wife.

Beautiful long and open beach with bathing boxes, we went there for sunset and had an amazing time. Parking just across the street, but couldn't find any toilet or trash bin near the beach entrance where we entered. The beach goes quite steep into the water, but the water is very clear.

Wonderful location away from suburbia, peaceful waters for kids to have a paddle. Public amenities at the life saving club. Great takeaway only metres away. Easy trip from Melbourne's East.

My dad almost drowned here, and there was a huge lake in the middle with dirty as hell water and pipes. otherwise it was ok.

The life saving club has successfully looked out for us for decades & i encourage every mum and dad to enroll their kids to become Nippers - who knows they might go on to be a qualified surf life saver, and at the very least they have fun, learn about water safety and rips, what to do with CPR and so on. I have not used the facilities here however I will review Mt Martha. The GoodMt Martha until recently was extremely quiet during the winter months, and still has a lovely forest of tea trees which must be taken to get to the beach, down a steep cliff walk. Painted boat houses are a trademark of this picturesque holiday destination, and many generations have been blessed with countless lazy summers at Mount Martha. Named for the sister of Miriam and Lazarus, this area has a long Christian heritage. The badLike a lot of the peninsula however, Melbourne has sprawled even this far, and although it is one of our favourite parts of the world, the dirt tracks, petite holiday houses, beautiful scrub and quiet nights are rapidly becoming a thing of the past, replaced by McMansions, inappropriate development, and although we still see a bit of fauna and the boardwalk is heritage it no longer feels such a long way from the city. The uglyI am only putting this part in because of burglaries, thefts from cars, vandalism, assault, and even more serious crimes making news lately in this area. Unfortunately - impossibly one would have thought not long ago - a large number of permanent residents who have a disproportionate level of unemployment and crime.Should we go?Hey - it's still a wonderful neck of the woods -just look at the house prices. I am just telling it like it is, so that you can have a great time. Mostly it's fine for kids to get around alone during the day - watch the highway though, you go swimming in the sun then climb up that steep cliff, be aware that cars are flying past at 100kmh and there are no barriers. Keep your doors locked (not many people had locks a few years back) don't leave valuables in the car, go on the walks and surf the front beach. Read books, and enjoy your piccolattes at one of several posh cafes the more refined of the locals keep building....we can't turn back the clock, and Mt Martha will always be a naturally stunning place!
