Excellent skyrail experience into Red Peak station! We took a guided tour with a park ranger. Wow! Really learned so much listening to him. So lovely and down to earth, and so informative. We saw a 400 year old tree, a tree that was being taken over by other trees, we also learned about animals who live in the forest. There are kangaroos that climb trees, and snakes who eat kangaroos, and the largest roaches in the world here too! Eeekkk! Thankfully we didn’t run into any snakes! The forest was a real beauty to be in the presence of. So fresh and so lush. The air was so pure you really feel renewed. The ranger also spoke about the traditional land owners; the Jebadhia people (may not be spelling that correctly). But they have been on this rainforest land for 40,000 years. How amazing is that?! The rainforest is very important to their dreamtime. The rainforest is also part of their world of survival, providing them food, tools to process food, creation of weapons, and even medication. They pass down techniques of survival throughout each generation so that it not forgotten. They work with the environment and animal in harmony, respecting the land and loving it. Such a wonderful educational afternoon. And once you head back to the skyrail deck there is a story with information to learn. For instance, this rainforest was the inspiration for all the rainforest scenes in the movie Avatar. Wowee! Also this rainforest is the oldest rainforest in the world! Anyway, really recommend you to come here and see for yourselves too! You won’t be disappointed!

Great location. Definitely worth getting off and exploring. If you can wait for a ranger guided tour it is well worth the wait. Our guide was a local from the area and had a wealth of knowledge. He was also very entertaining. The tour ran for about 20 minutes.

Had to get off the Skyrail Cableway here to change gondolas for the final leg down to Smithfield. Opportunity to take a break and look around. Nice but relatively short boardwalk with more great views of the rainforest. Staff friendly and helpful.

If you have been to blue mountain scenic skyway and scenic railway and thought it’s not worth it? The cairns scenic Skyrail sounds expensive, at the end of the day it is worth every dollar. Start your morning early, purchase tickets on arrival or pre-purchase tickets online. You will start off with a cable car that sits 6 people up the mountain, then walk through the rainforest before catching a second and third cable cable to reach the mountain village for lunch. After a recharged lunch, walk around the village to the local shops for some souvenirs before heading to the red peak Skyrail station where you will go on a scenic tour around the mountains for 1.5 hours. There is one stop where you will get off and take photos of the waterfall, after that you will be too tired to look outside and start to doze off. It’s a pretty long day but both adults and children will will appreciate the beauty and creation of cairns, cable car and Skyrail rides.

Caught the cable car down the mountain some very nice views with a couple of stops on the way down. Lookouts and boardwalks to explore. Great for the kids. You can see all the way to the coast. A little pricey but worth the experience.

I took a Diamond Gondola but not recommend as there is only one Gondola for Diamond, you will be waiting long time to take it. Nevertheless, normal Gondola is pretty good option to get to Kuranda. On the way, you will get 2 stations for rainforests which one has great waterfalls. It takes about 1.5 hr to get to Kuranda but still worth it.

An leasurly & enjoyable ride up and over the mountain to see great views of Cairns. At the peak is a short and healthy example of the rain forest. I only wish it had been a longer walk. The second cable shows a great view of the Barron Falls. We then took the Kuranda railway train back to Cairns. It was beautiful but very slow and had large sections with no views. So if you are strapped for time, or want to make the most of your time for the day I suggest you ride the Sky Rail back. It is cheaper and faster than the train.

Fabulous experience full of incredible scenery, education of this unique rainforest environment and the first stop on your fabulous cable car journey! There is a fabulous app which provides narration as you ride of the cable car, it’s strongly recommended that you download it in advance if your trip.Slow ten to twenty minutes to walk around and explore.A strong recommend from me!
