As my Mother was visiting from Queensland I decided to take her to the only place in Mudgee that serve fresh seafood once a month, direct from New Castle. Not only was the meal delicious but the wait staff were outstanding. Nothing was too much trouble and a vast knowledge of the wine list. Thank you Charnwood for a memorable night, which my Mum still raves about.

On arrival, we were surprised to find this was a motel restaurant, not a stand alone restaurant. We waited for 2 hours and 15 minutes for our meals to arrive, at least 3 other parties who arrived after us were served, ate, and left before we received our food. Had to ask constantly for drinks and updates on food. Most of the meals were good, the lamb cutlets must have been dipped in a deep dryer, meat was over cooked (dark brown rather than golden) yet the bones were still very cold.

Atmosphere was good that's where it ends. Service was slow. Took them over 40min to bring out the food. The food was tastles and my wifes meat was so hard to eat and chewy she had 3 folks and left it everyone of our guests we had with us complaind about the food. Been from out of town we chose the place based on the reviews. Not sure if they were having a bad night but certainly the reviews and what we got were 2 different things.

We had a lovely night out here. We shared a garlic bread with cheese for entree which was very tasty. For mains we had the duck (special) and the chicken schnitzel. The duck was exceptionally cooked and I couldn’t fault the chicken either. Service was also amazing.

Didn't have the prawn entree available.Main was duck and cabbage. The cabbage gets 5/5 the Duck 1/5 so met half way. The duck was cooked more like Bbq chicken than a med-rare scotch.

Very disappointing. Very dull atmosphere that was located in a motel. Not what we expected. For starters, we got the prawn special. $20 for 4 overcooked prawns on the tiniest piece of toast. Massively overpriced. For main, we both ordered scoth fillet steaks. This took a full hour to come out despite the restaurant being pretty much empty. Once finally on the table, both steaks were definetly not scotch cut. Both were extremely fatty and to top it off, both were cooked well done after ordering a medium rare and medium. Onion rings were also part of this dish that didn't arrive for another 10 minutes after reminding a staff member they were missing. We made the same member of staff aware of our disappointment and she said she will let the chef know. Nothing happened until the senior waitress came to take our full plates back to the kitchen. She was completely unaware of our first compliant. We asked for the bill which didn't come for another 10 minutes, this was evidently an uncomfortable wait. They compensated our steaks by 50%. All in all a very disappointing anniversary celebration dinner. We felt sorry for the waitresses as this wasn't fair on them. They were young and inexperienced.Would not recommend or be returning.

I'm perplexed at just how this restaurant is currently rated at 4.2 stars. We should have run for the hills on arrival on seeing the restaurant half empty (where it's hard to get a booking for any restaurant in Mudgee), and on seeing two tables about to leave with their plates half full. We stayed out of politeness, and we ordered the chicken schnitzel and crumbed lamb cutlets. The chicken schnitzel was inedible due to being the consistency of cardboard and the lamb crumb was thick, greasy and stale. We left our plates half full like the other tables we'd seen. The restaurant is very dated too, but I could look past that if the food was half decent. The reason I gave 2 stars instead of 1 is because the two waitresses that served us were polite, cheerful and attentive. I don't usually give negative reviews, but honestly some effort needs to go into cooking some decent food. Would not recommend.

Not what the website tells you. While I understand post covid it takes time to get momentum in a restaurant finding staff etc. This really was an extremely poor experience. We booked our table for 7pm and received our main meal at 9pm. Waitresses while lovely repeatedly failed to remove old glasses, plates before the next serving. it's pretty simple. Go to a table and remove as you go. Saves so much time. I was grateful for the acknowledgement that it was not expected to be busy, however having worked in hospitality for many years this was far worse than a bad night The food quality did not match the prices, nor the service. We sent one of the mains back and the other the other was consumed as token gesture. We were embarrassed to leave. When we got the bill it was not itemised. Not since the 80s have I experienced this and at that point we felt not worth the conversation. Walk away.Sorry to the staff but this was not ok. Absolutely not.Sorry Andrew Your response below and previous reviews suggest this is not an isolated event. And the speed of response to this review being 5 minutes from my posting it would be better spent serving your customers.
