Personally, I had a traumatising experience with Danielle Zerk.Unfortunately, I was gaslit, to believe that I was lying and incorrect about stating that I did not have covid, forced to go home at first session, and met with a condescending and clear power inbalance in the way that she approached the session. Amidst an extremely acute mental crisis, I was given a generalised sheet of depression and anxiety symptoms to read, this being the equivalent of the “google search”, instead of being sensitive to my mental state. My appointment was only 15 minutes, as the unnecessary time it took for me to wait for transport and get home, was included in my session time. I felt overwhelmed and stressed as Danielle wanted me to explain every single thing I was struggling with and the goal for the sessions, in a maximum of 15 minutes, when I was in no state of seeing a goal yet, or prepared enough to explain every single thing going on in my head, when I didn’t even know myself, as I hoped she could help with all of this. Please don’t enter such an occupation if you lack the skills and human decency to make people feel safe and seen.
