My travel friend is ex navy so had to visit. We toured all ships berthed at the museum, which was very interesting. The displays in the museum were very informative also. You need to allow 2-3 hours to tour.

The Australian National Maritime Museum is a treasure trove for ship enthusiasts of all ages! From old-time large sail ships to a modern naval destroyer, a submarine, and even a replica of Captain Cook's legendary ship, the Endeavour, there's an impressive collection of vessels to explore. The museum offers a captivating showcase of Australian maritime history, with knowledgeable staff available to provide information and assistance. It's a perfect day out for families with kids, as well as for those who are young at heart. Even if you're not particularly interested in ships, you'll still learn something new and fascinating during your visit. The museum itself is worth exploring, with exhibits featuring nautical artifacts, art exploring the sea, and insights into marine conservation. The museum boasts two floors of amazing displays, including old maps, navigating equipment, exciting stories, and captivating artifacts. Special exhibits, like the National Geographic Wildlife Photographer of the Year, are also on display and are sure to capture the imagination of kids. The location is convenient, just across the walking bridge from many restaurants and shops at Darling Harbour, making it a perfect day out with plenty of dining options.Keep in mind that wait times may be longer on weekends, school holidays, or public holidays, but the experience is well worth the price of admission. With five ships to explore and a wealth of exhibits to discover, it's a must-visit for anyone interested in maritime history and culture. Highly recommended for families and anyone looking for an enriching outing!

A great day out. The Museum is very clean & with well maintained exhibits. Friendly staff which are happy to help you & the tour guides are very informative. Lots of Information & things to see. Especially the Lego Models which are amazing! A massive outdoor area with Boats & a Submarine. Only waited under 2 minutes to get my ticket. I would recommend booking online as at times it can get busy.

What a great way to spend a day. We loved boarding the ships and the submarine. All the volunteers are rather knowledgeable and able to answer those burning questions. Would highly recommend going on the 'cruise' around the harbor.

So cool to board a old sailing ship, submarine, and battleship!! The docents monitoring the ships inside are very knowledgeable and with the old sailing ships have been with the ships for over a decade - both ships still occasionally go on voyages. Allow for ample time to visit all the ships. The submarine has narrow corridors so it's somewhat single file through the ship, but you can explore the others at your leisure. It wasn't too crowded on the weekday afternoon that we went. Ask lots of questions!

Great place to spend a little time when in darling harbour. At only 70 dollars for a family of 5, good value. Good to show the kids a little about Australian marine history. Worth a quick stop.

Darling Harbour has so much to offer at anytime. The Australian National Maritime Museum defiantly a great afternoon to spend with the family, from old war ships, to a submarine to explore or the old world Viking ship to board & play dress up. Certainly a place we'll be back to on a regular visit.

Amazing museum. We really loved the current Lego exhibit and the wildlife photos — some of the best nature photos I have ever seen. The ships were also very interesting to walk through.

We loved going through the Endeavor replica. It’s fascinating to see how these ships functioned and what life we like onboard a sailing ship in mid-1700.We also went through the submarine. That was incredible! 60 men living in that tiny tube underwater for 7 weeks at a time.
