My Banjo had been in storage for a long time, and when I went to restring it, I broke all the pegs. I contacted some other places in town and they turned me away. I contacted Josh, he took a look at it, gave me a choice of materials to replace them, ordered them on the spot. He had it fixed, restrung, and ready to pick up in one week. Which is incredibly fast, considering the parts were coming all the way from the USA. I highly recommend him for repairs. Thank you Josh!

Josh has recently completed work on two of my guitars.1977 Guild D35. - This required a 'set-up' and with nut, bridge and truss rod adjustments. The guitar has been restored to its former glory with action and playability in general, absolutely perfect.2020 Jack Spira 000 custom. The neck here had to be straightened after some negative reaction to North Coast humidity. It is now playing better than ever.I have no hesitation in recommending Josh as a highly competent Luthier. He brings a high level of integrity to his work and is open and honest to deal with. I would feel completely confident having Josh complete far more involved repairs on my guitars. Josh at Federal Strings did a restring on a guitar and a uke for me. I've also asked him to do some repairs on another much-loved guitar. He is super knowledgeable, very professional, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone with a guitar in need of some TLC.

Just picked up my tele (1994 MIJ 62 sunburst double bound Custom reissue) from Josh; 'vintage' stryle frets had flattened out through the middle, and I decided a re-fret would be in order. Josh had a look and recommended a level and crown instead at this stage (re-fret next time). He did an absolutely beautiful job, and this guitar (always good) has never felt better! Also, Josh is very generous with his time and knowledge, and will consider the situation, talk through a range of options and their various pros and cons, and gently guide your decision. Can't recommend him highly enough!UPDATE: Josh has just finished fixing some loose bracing in my 1970 D28. Though they say 'don't trust a Martin without some bellying', its pretty much all gone now, and the action is back to low and fast. Another excellent piece of work; I can't recommend Josh highy enough!.
