As a professional food reviewer, I had the opportunity to dine at Grameen Lakemba and I must say, I was disappointed with my experience.I had the Iftar deal which included Halim and Tehari. Unfortunately, the main Iftar was served stone cold, which was disappointing. However, the Halim served after iftar was really good and a highlight of the meal.Moving on to the Tehari, while it was a bit oily, it was still enjoyable. I could taste the spices and flavors, but I believe it would have been better if it was cooked with less oil.Unfortunately, our experience took a turn for the worse when we found a small cockroach in our drinking water. This is a serious hygiene issue that should not be taken lightly. I hope Grameen Lakemba takes immediate action to address this problem and prevent it from happening in the future.Overall, I would say that my experience at Grameen Lakemba was average at best. While the Halim was delicious, the cold main Iftar, oily Tehari, and the hygiene issue with the cockroach were major concerns. I would recommend that Grameen Lakemba takes steps to improve their food quality, hygiene practices, and overall dining experience for their customers.

We have been to Grameen a few times since we came to Australia last year. To be very honest, food they serve may not be the best but the value for money makes up for it, specially the breakfast menu, be it the breakfast buffet or the $15 set menu, it's utterly worth it. Wouldn't recommend for dinner though....we had their chicken biriyani, which was a huge let down. But will go back for their breakfast again....

Hearing about its good reputation, I had excitedly ordered moghlai porota, shingaras, and samosas from Grameen Restaurant. I waited nearly 20 minutes for the moghlai porotas and was given the samosas and shingaras 10 minutes in. After coming home in less than 5 minutes with the food, I was utterly disappointed at the quality of the food. The samosas were terribly burnt, to the point where they are completely inedible. Additionally, the moghlai porotas were in an abysmal state, as the roti was hard (barely chewable) and it tasted like it was microwaved. Not to mention, we were charged ridiculous prices (I am attaching the receipt to show I am not a fake review)—for the high price point, the quality of food is ridiculously low. I am now warning all my friends and family from visiting this restaurant, as the quality of food does not match the so-called “reputation” of Grameen Restaurant. I DO NOT RECOMMEND eating here.

Worst food, very low standard of cleanliness, Serve old food, Oily and low quality food presents. Unfriendly atmosphere, waste of money and time, Will never ever recommend this eatery unless it fixed.Used to be good, Now bad management, unfriendly staff, no smile on their face, high price for oily and old food, minimum cleanliness , little food skills of Chefs or cookFood inspector need to visit, change of management , atmosphere and change of Chefs and staff need to happen Urgently.

My partner is Bangladeshi so we love coming here. The breakfast is so good! Savoury, balanced, authentic flavours. They have changed the breakfast menu recently though and it is now smaller. The haleem is nothing like I’ve had before! It tastes so rich it reminds me of caramel. Also the malai cha is phenomenal.

You want to come here for your meal? Make sure you are ready to do pretty much everything. You will be lucky if one of the waitstaffs even look at you to ask if you’re ready to order. Did not even feel like any one of them wanted to be there working. I was surprised to be offered a paper plate when asked for an extra plate. You raise your hand to get their attention and you order something but fun fact it wont come until you sit there and remind them again. Upstairs level has absolutely no exhaust system or a proper ventilation. This restaurant needs a definite understanding of what customer service means.Drove 1.5hrs to come here and have a meal definitely my last.

This place gives you a bong vibe for a start but one will find it hard not to notice the general sense of low hygiene. For those who don’t care about hygiene, pls ignore this review. But for the rest, this place now has the disrepute of being slapped with one of the largest number health and safety violation fines by the NSW Food Authority in 2023 as compared to any other Indian-subcontinent store in Lakemba.Hopefully the owners will avoid trying to discredit this review and put in some hard work to turn the hygiene around.

One of the worst restaurants in Lakemba area. Definitely not recommended. Guy who was serving not even noticing at people that trying to order. Worst quality service and food on filthy tables. Me and other customers were requesting the staff to clean the table. Experienced same thing 2 times already in the same place. Very delayed process to bring the ordered food and Rude attitude of the staffs. Definately, not a standard to run food business in Sydney. Read the other reviews. You will be confirmed with what mentioned here. Attention owner, dont just waste people’s precious time and money by serving whatever and however. Bring a good standard plz.

We ordered beef sizzling, and they served us kind of beef curry. I asked them is it beef sizzling or something else? Owner replied we got new chief and he made his own style. It was a bad experience for me and I felt like I just wasted my money.If anyone wants to get my experience, do order beef sizzling. Moreover, their service below zero level.My point is they know their weaknesses, but they are not improving. Anyway, I hope they will change.

Update after owner's reply: Paid Review? I have over 85 restaurant reviews. The aweful experience that I had back on Friday needed to be shared today. Please focus on your food quality before replying to your customers and criticizing others. Also please go through my whole review, I actually used to like your foods just a year back.After having terrible food experience 3 months back, decided to taste their kacchi (which have been getting colorful reviews on their Facebook page). Such an aweful experience. Meat was chewy with no spices inside.Used to be one of the best restaurants in Sydney for Bangladeshi cuisine. Thanks for ruining our appetite for Bangladeshi foods.No more chaps, fish, vorta, quality chotpoti fuchka and serving days-old chewy non spicy kacchi.No wonder things have gone downhill for you guys. Bring back the old Grameen that we used to love. Never coming back till then.Rude customer service and they dont maintain any sort of good hygiene at all. They say items are freshly made but that's a huge lie considering the taste after serving.
