Do not build with HomeStart (or BGC)!TIL: 3+ years of build, crooked walls, poor quality, terrible comms.The initial consultation and sales cycle seems great but once you sign the contract everything fails apart:- Super long process. Three years after signing and there is still no roof.- The quality of the bricklaying has a lot to be desired.- When we flagged an issue with walls being crocked they refused to acknowledge it. So we brought in an outside inspector and they straight up refused to correct it.- Poor comms about delays.- Getting in touch with your assigned consultant is near impossible because they are always busy.

If I could give less than 1 star I would, the lack of communication through my current 2 year build has been little to none. From emails being ignored, phone calls not answered or returned. Massive gaps in time between job stages and constantly given no real explanation on why. Along with that unrealistic and ridiculous extension of times been sent to me, this has to to simply be the most incompetent unprofessional organisation I have ever had to deal, I’d avoid this and any other bgc owned builders.

My wife and I have had a great experience with building our first Home with HomeStart. Jeremey Earle our Housing Consultant and the team has been awesome through out our journey so far. We have got the house we wanted plus more which we are so grateful for. The team has worked so hard and been very helpful for us to get this far. From the bottom of our hearts we thank you and we look forward to working with you as we continue this new and exciting journey.

Three years later, I have a burst water pipe, plumber said they used old piping and didn't put an elbow in, they just bent the pipe, so here I am $500 poorer and no insurance to claim, because of them...

I am living next door to a HomeStart construction site. I caught their tradies stealing water from my property. I had contacted HomeStart to resolve the matter privately, and asked that they pay for my $43 water bill for the month of August when it came. HomeStart have refused to offer me compensation for trespassing and theft.

Zero stars, nothing to write home about. I'll never be able to recommend HomeStart to anyone I know.Contract signed in March 21, foundation poured in September 21, nothing till September 22, now BGC needs a tentative handover time extension till May 24... incorrigible. I have a young homeless family now with nowhere to go. With a rental market that needs unicorns as tenants, it is a bit embarrassing to live with friends and folks. A complete blind eye from HomeStart and zero sensitivity to what I am dealing with because of their poor planningI'm paying out of my nose to sustain such gross neglect and poor professionalism. Hate the ambiguity and uncertainty.

At age 19, this was my first home build, I was unsure of the process but excited. Jeremy Earle went above and beyond to make sure I was aware of the process and felt comfortable with any decisions to be made. I am sure he went beyond his job description required of him in order to help me through the process of buying land and securing a house plan.

Like many others, worst mistake I ever made signing up with Homestart. The sales rep sold us a dream and told us usual build time is 6-7 months, might blow out to 9-12 with the workload they had. Well I signed the dotted line in March 2021, they started October 2021, slab Feb 2022, bricks December 2022 and currently in June 2023 and haven’t even seen roof timber get delivered, let alone been told when the roof might even get done! My wife fell pregnant when they started and my son is going to have his first birthday before the roof even goes on!Worst decision I ever made signing up with this company, I’m out more than $10,000 just on dead interest for the loan while they drag their feet and do nothing while other builders are finishing houses in 8-10 months.

The salesman ( i think he could have been more honest) was bending over backwards for my business but that's where the customer service stopped. After signing final contract im finding it difficult to talk to anyone and never get replays to my emails or calls. It coming up to 12month from signing and i just have a slab. I feel im just a number now not a customer. I wouldn't recommend Homestart. It's been 12 months since I wrote this review and nothing has changed, trying to talk to someone at Homestart is like pulling teeth, it feels like I've been forgotten about.Never never never build with this company.

If I could give 0 stars I would. I would not recommend them.Throughout the whole building process there were delays and no updates on the build.After key handover there were several issues including a faulty ensuite bathroom shower that were raised. However, its now December and the issues raised at the start of the year and in the 6 month inspection have still not been resolved.
